Maddy McCann has been missing for over 120 days now since she was abduced in Portugal...

Of cause everyone wishes that she will be found but the chances of that are looking slimmer each day..

Do you think she will ever be found?

Many people on the forums think that the parents where to blame for her dissaperence..

I dont think they 'wanted' there daughter to be stolen but it has happened...

Do you think the parents of Missing Maddy were to blame for her disappearance?

Please discuss

1) Sadly if found will be found dead

2) I think the parents know a lot more about what happened than they have letting on

No and no. She's gone, and the parents doubtless made some mistake of some sort but didn't kill her and don't know who did.

Also - 3 months too late, much!?

Maybe but I seriously don't it.

(The second question should be "were" not "was" the parents to blame) either way Yes, as who leaves 3 children under 5 on their own in a foreign country, who does it in their own country! Anything could have happend in the room. A fire could of broken out, Madalein could of gotten into a draw or cupboard wife knifes or something that she could of hurt herself or the twins with. The parents are totaly to blame.

I have maintained all along that the McCann's killed Madeleine either deliberately or accidently or know who has taken her and are covering it up, there are far too many inconsistencies in their media statements over the months that do not add up, I still maintain they did it or know who did

Sorry about my spelling error :)

I completely agree with you:

Maddy being found would be nothing short of a miracle...

I think people should stop feeling sorry for 2 irrespocible parents  and start feeling sorry for a very young child who is missing (if she is alive)..

we have had a very long running thread on this topic.... however, i see no reason not to let a new one run in its place, but there might be duplicate posts.

I seriously doubt she'll ever be found alive, I remember similar cases in the 80s where it took almost a year before bodies were ever found...

And, whether the parents actually did the deed or not, they are ultimately responsible through their negligence, their sheer stupidity and their basic bad parenting. I've said it before and I'll say it again, what parent in their right mind leaves three kids on their own in a hotel room in a foreign country while going off for hours at a time, and not only once, but on several separate occasions - they pretty much left an open invitation to any sicko or pervert to observe their habits and calculate exactly how much time they would have to take the kid, in short, they made it easy for any would-be abductor.. They have to face the legal consequences of their actions IMO, and frankly, I wouldn;t let them anywhere near the other kids either, they should be brought up by the grandparents IMO...

This is a conversation I had with my friends

The publisity this girls getting is too much - I mean kids get kidnappeed daily

and its never reported

I think this was a v. well thought out plan?

I've null voted because the first question is pointless and unecessary.

I have absoloutely no sympathy for the parents.

As a parent your priority will always be your children. Leaving your kids in a room whilst you go and sit in a bar is absoloutely disgusting, what if they had an accident?! They are bad parents.

As someone said in the other thread, 100s of people going missing each week, yet in the last 6/7 years how many have got such a high level of exposure? Holly & Jessica, Sarah Payne, Milly Dowler, Madeleine - that's like 4 cases in the last 6/7 years. I hate to criticise the fact this case has so much coverage when a little girl has gone missing, but the parents are resposible, it is their fault.

I was thinking the other day - if a Madeleine's mother was a single parent for example, no-one would show as much support as they are now. She'd be branded a bad mother and people would be urging social services to inspect. Yet because it's a couple, for some reason everyone doesn't see that they are at fault?

Holly and Jessic wasn't down to bad parenting though, it just turned out someone the girls thought they could trust was a sick freak! I mean i think they were 11 or 12 at the time, so would be allowed out together without their parents, I know I was at that age.

And I am pretty sure Sarah payne was kidnapped when her parents were right near her.

And sorry if i have misread and you were just sayinf Madelins parents were bad parents.

I have said that from the very start. The same should be happening here, just because they are a couple and docotrs doesn't mean they are good parents. I do think the twins should be taken into car.

Also I wouldn't leave a child or children alone in a house/hotel in this country let alone a foreign one. And considering they were in potugal, they would of been allowed the kids their as that is their culture, they let children out for late meals as that is when they eat an evening meal. When i was in spain last summer we were leaving a restruant at 10:30 ish and a family showed up with lots of kids ready to eat their evening meal.

Yeah kinda

I was just trying to highlight that 100s of people go missing each week, yet only an extremely small number get awareness nationally.

I was watching Look East today, it is my BBC regional news, it was on before Neighbours. At the start we have some breaking news just in, a 5yearold boy has gone missing in the last hour and they had a film crew and were like omg it is near a lake, about half way through they were like, we can update you now and the boy has been found safe and well. I was like, you could of waited till the end of the bulliten to announce it, they just looked stupid really announcing someone was lost and found in one 10min builletin.

Who the hell are the four people out there who dont think the parents are at fault....?? <_<

I notice they dont actually come on and post to try and justify their ridiculous positions.... -_-

I dont actually think that it's in any country's "culture" to find it acceptable to go around leaving pre-school kids in a hotel room on their own when anything could happen... Portugal is a predominately Catholic country which places great emphasis on the family, so I would think it highly unlikely that the Portuguese people in general would look kindly on parents leaving kids on their own to go off to a bar....

I'm not sure about the twins being taken into care though, I dont think that I would leave any kid at the mercy of social services where there were other family members more than capable of taking them in and raising them.. As I say, the Grandparents would be good candidates for legal guardians... I mean, they're pretty much raising the twins anyway at the moment, considering the jet-setting all over the place that the McCanns themselves are up to.... <_<

I reckon that she won't be found alive or she won't be found at all. I also agree that the parents played some part in this aweful term of events, no matter what it was their fault somehow.

The only reason that the media circus has taken such interest in this particular story is simply out of greed. Playing with people's heart-strings as an easy way for the media to sell some extra papers as its clearly worked. All they had to do was splash the front page with a pretty innocent young girl with a tragic story, deem to parents innocent victims and the masses around the world flock to the news stands. I find it sad and unfair that this one particular missing persons story has gotten so much attention. What about all the other people who go missing in the world do they not deserve some recognition? What made Madeline so special? She is no different from the others.

But then again this is only my opinion, others may differ greatly

Is there a lot of press on it in australia, how intersted are people about it over there?

I don't think she will be found and ultimatley yes i believe that the parents are to blame.

Its been in the news and in the papers alot. Its plays with people's emotions so ofcourse they are interested. Also it reminds us all of Daniel Morcombe the young boy who was abducted in Australia in 2003 and never seen again.

I don't think that's the point he was making. I think he was saying that in countries like Portugal (actually, almost any European conuntry apart from Britain), it's acceptable to bring children into restaurants at any time. So, even if the McCanns wanted to eat later than the children they could still have brought them into the restaurant. In Britain, we have ths ridiculous attitude that young children shouldn't be in restaurants - even in a tourist resort - after about 7.00.
