Posted September 6, 200717 yr This starts tomorow, England are the current holders but haven't done well since the last tournament in 2003. New Zealand go in as favourites.
September 6, 200717 yr I'm happy Portugal is in it, they are very hard-working and they don't have the conditions of the rugby superpower countries. For sure, we will be crushed helplessly by NZ and Scotland but just being here is enough of a reward.
September 7, 200717 yr If the world cup is being held in France why are Scotland and Wales allowed to play at home ? :manson:
September 7, 200717 yr Author If the world cup is being held in France why are Scotland and Wales allowed to play at home ? :manson: I dunno, there are lots of stadiums being used in europe, I don't think france have enough stadiums with a high enough capsity for the fans so they are using stadiums in other europian countries to get the games played more quickly.
September 7, 200717 yr Well Done Argentina on their Victory today over France :cheer: Have to say the French looked weak tonight ...... a bit of a shock opener!
September 8, 200717 yr I dunno, there are lots of stadiums being used in europe, I don't think france have enough stadiums with a high enough capsity for the fans so they are using stadiums in other europian countries to get the games played more quickly. If they don't have enough stadiums they shouldn't host :arrr:
September 8, 200717 yr poor doesn't even come close to describing England's performance today <_< They have a lot of work to do before Friday - South Africa are in a different league to USA ...... on today's showing we will struggle  Very impressed with Berkley tho - Jonny will have to fight for his place :o
September 15, 200717 yr Author Last night England lost 36-0 against South Affrica their biggest loss ever in the world cup Today New Zealand only just beat portugal, winning 108-13, however this is alot less than the All Blacks put past Japan in 1995 when they scored 145
September 16, 200717 yr England is the only team to have failed to score a point in a match in the tournament so far - 36-0 against Sounth Africa. I think the very last hope for England avoiding humiliation in these championships died with Jason Robinson's hamstring on Friday. Was there ever a sadder sight than the only England player who was actually playing collasping in agony in the middle of the field? There is no shame in being beaten by a better team - but there is in playing like a bunch of amateurs who have never met each other!!! Got to say Wales played well yesterday, looked organised and disciplined. But my heart says that if O'Gara's kicking is on form Ireland could be the home nation that goes furthest. September 22, 200717 yr 44-22 against Samoa :dancing: AND we played 100 times better. more disciplined, less dropping the ball and a LOT less 'scrapping' and Jonny kicked well too ;) but credit to Samoa - they didn't make it easy - they played hard and made us work. Still need a bit of work staying disciplined off the ball, getting organised ind efence BUT am feeling a lot more confident about is actually reaching the next round ;) Edited September 22, 200717 yr by ICR
September 28, 200717 yr 36-20 .... we beat Tonga and are through to the quarter finals :yahoo: .... but we will ahve to raise our game again as we meet Australia in the quarter finals
September 28, 200717 yr Author so England beat Samoa and a country that most people have never even heard of and suddenly are world beaters once again, reminds me of the football team :P
September 28, 200717 yr so England beat Samoa and a country that most people have never even heard of and suddenly are world beaters once again, reminds me of the football team :P There's only 200,000 people live in Samoa, thats less than a small city in England. :D Worldbeaters
September 29, 200717 yr Tonga has the same population as Chesterfield ;) I have not said they are world beater :o All I am saying is the playing is improving with each game. Technically we are sharper and more disciplined. Australia will be very hard to beat ...... and I doubt we can if we don't sharpen up even more! Edited September 29, 200717 yr by ICR
September 29, 200717 yr As the Fiji Rugby commentator may have shouted after the final whistle: "Tom Jones, Catherine Zeta Jones, Ioan Gruffudd are you listening. Anthony Hopkins, Charlotte Church, Colin Jackson are you watching. Neil Kinnock, Huw Edwards, Ian Woosnam, Siân Lloyd, Dame Shirley Bassey your boys took one hell of a beating."
September 29, 200717 yr Wales have crashed out :o was so close .... a brave fightback they must be gutted
September 29, 200717 yr and Scotland are into the last 8 :cheer: :yahoo: but did you see New Zealand ...... can anyone beat them >>
