Posted September 8, 200717 yr the main countries we should be nosying at Scotland - Lithuania (KO: 3PM) [Group B] Slovakia - Rep. of Ireland (KO: 7:30PM) [Group D] Wales - Germany (KO: 7:30PM) [Group D] Latvia - Northern Ireland (KO: 5:15PM) [Group F] and apparently there's some 'team' called England playing Israel at 5PM in a must win match :o I hope Wales show us English how to stuff the Germans :arrr: A few League One & Two games today too, with a biggie in the north as Leeds Utd play Hartlepool at 3PM, and Leyton orient play Bournemouth.
September 8, 200717 yr Wahey for Scotland. :w00t: Leeds doing very well again. :o Poor Jeff Stelling. :(
September 8, 200717 yr Author Gareth Barry to start for England, Hargreaves has failed a late fitness test
September 8, 200717 yr Author Leeds 2 - 0 Hartlepool and Lithuania have just blatantly dived for a penalty. Scotland 1 - 1 Lithuania
September 8, 200717 yr Half Time. England playing very well, much better than their 1-0 H-T lead suggests. Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joe Cole, Micah Richards & Emile Heskey are playing great, but it is obvious that Michael Owen & Steven Gerrard are not fit.
September 8, 200717 yr Great first half, I think England played well throughout, they played mainly in the Israel half they had most of the ball possession. But why did Owen miss another golden opportunity -_- hillock
September 8, 200717 yr A good game for England, very well played, they had most of the ball possession, against a weak team, if it was a team like France or Italy it would have been a different story. Hesky, Wright-Phillips and Micah Richards played a blinder of a game. They should have taken Owen off though after he scored, they really didn't need him to play the full 90 mins when they were comfortably 3-0 Overall, a watchable game from start to finish. The big test will be Russia on Wednesday, hope they keep their heads together.
September 8, 200717 yr Author Russia have only conceded one as well. Kerzakhov will be the man to stop and Gabulov is suspended :cheer:
September 8, 200717 yr Great performance by England today overall, they still made a couple of errors but because we were winning no one was really noticed them. Wright-Phillips played a blinder on the right wing, (no chance of Beckham getting back in the England team at the moment) Barry had a good game in the centre of midfield and Heskey held the ball up well. Owen's 2nd goal was top draw as well! ^_^ He should have probably scored near the end when he took it round the keeper but alas no. All in all it will fill the team with lots of confidence now for the next qualifier on Wednesday.
September 8, 200717 yr A good 3-0 win. Barry was my Man of the Match, Richards & Wright-Phillips were outstanding (although W-P did a handful of loose passes in the second-half), a class goal by Owen & Heskey was great. Only a clearly unfit Steven Gerrard disappointed. Fingers crossed for the same starting XI on Wednesday whether Lampard and/or Hargreaves are fit or not.
September 8, 200717 yr What a game! A brilliant performance by England this evening, the first time since Euro 2004 that we've performed well against a decent side. Heskey was great, far better than Crouch ever is. Owen's goal was brilliant and Richards and SWP were superb on that right. I do hope he goes unchanged for Wednesday, We'll lose if he brings in Crouch and Fat Frank
September 8, 200717 yr :cheer: Scotland won :o :cheer: Ukraine drew with Gerogia leaving them 5 points behind Scotland and now look unlikely to qualify and :o Northen Ireland lost in Latvia to a Chris Briad own goal
September 8, 200717 yr Spain 0 Iceland 1  If the match ends like that we won't be at the Euro 2008 :D
September 9, 200717 yr What a game! A brilliant performance by England this evening, the first time since Euro 2004 that we've performed well against a decent side. Heskey was great, far better than Crouch ever is. Owen's goal was brilliant and Richards and SWP were superb on that right. I do hope he goes unchanged for Wednesday, We'll lose if he brings in Crouch and Fat Frank Israel are not decent, they are abysmal. In the 2 games against them did they have a shot on target? I can't remember.
September 9, 200717 yr Israel are not decent, they are abysmal. In the 2 games against them did they have a shot on target? I can't remember. Before yesterday they had lost just one of their 18 previous competitive games and were unbeaten i World Cup qualification. They are notoriously hard to break down and we managed to do it. They don't pose much of an attacking threat but are a good defensively. To win 3-0 is an excellent result.
September 9, 200717 yr The League One table is looking RATHER RATHER NICE at the minute. England was match was a very consistent performance aswell. Gareth Barry was amazing. He didn't steal the spotlight or do anything overly off-the-wall but did exactly what a centre-mid should be doing. Holding the ball up, passing away, making decent tackles. Effectively he pulled all the strings in the team yesterday. If McClaren brings back Frank for Wednesday it will completely unbalance the side.
