Boy band Arashi take top honours in the singles chart. First week sales of 192,196 for their 20th single "Happyness" gives them their 16th No.1 hit. Ketsumeishi retain the top spot in the albums chart for a second week and in so doing, sail effortlessly past the half-million mark after two weeks on the chart. Hip-hop outfit Dragon Ash and old-time rockers BOOWY jump on the current bandwagon for 'best of' compilations and in so doing occupy the No.2 to 5 positions.

Love #1, although I don't think it'll sell as high as LSS, but will hopefully have some longevity along the lines of it. Hikki did 55% of her fw and outsold the competition from last week, how awesome! and what low sales for Ayaka, although the DVD edition is released this week, which may help. glad to see Nakashima Mika hanging in there. Single sales bar #1 and #2 seem incredibly low, but I presume that's the hurricaine effect. Do you know where PUFFY 'Oriental Diamond' ended up?

I'm glad i'm not the only one that likes BOOWY  seems the vocalist albums took a tumble this week. Not much interests me in the albums apart from those I just mentioned.

Future Releases

I hope KinKi Kids beat Kuu, considering 'Ai No Uta' defines bland. I don't like Ken Hirai's song either. I'm assuming Leah Dizon will get a top 10 placing with 'Destiny Line' although I don't want it to. Why she chose to start a singing career in japan when she knew hardly any Japanese in the beginning bewilders me, but I guess it's catchy enough.

Sorry to disappoint, but it looks like it's missed the Top 50.

Yes, the Utada tortoise often wins the race in the end. ;)

I'm not really a rock fan and BOOWY are pretty much nostalgia now - but I do have a sneaking respect for Tomoyasu Hotei who is a 'cool dude'. There is a chance Namie will have made the half-million this week. She was 2,769 short last week - waiting for the number.

I think Kuu may have a battle on her hands to stop Ken Harai taking No.2. I'm wondering if the gossip about her romance with Masahiro Nakai will impact sales?

Poor PUFFY :( I don't hold big hopes for their next album in terms of sales.

Seems Ken isn't top 4 of the daily, surprising :o Kuu doesn't seem to have done amazingly on first days, probably sell the same as BUT. Do you think Hikki can outsell Freaky to get the second biggest female single of the year?

I guess there's always next week..
