Posted September 12, 200717 yr West beckons Bollywood talent By Subhash K. Jha Aug 14, 2007, 10:08 GMT Mumbai, Aug 14 (IANS) Bollywood talent seems to be carving a niche in the west. Composer Aadesh Shrivastava will record the duet 'King & Queen' with Shakira, Santosh Sivan has received an offer to direct a movie based on Michael Ondantjee's latest novel and Salman Khan is playing the lead role in US-based director Willard Carroll's 'Marigold'. The list doesn't end here. John Abraham is paired with American actress Rachel Weisz in Deepa Mehta's 'Luna' and Vishal Bharadwaj is in talks with Hollywood actress Uma Thurman to play the lead in a World War II epic. Confirming the news, Bharadwaj told IANS: 'Yes, Uma is in negotiation. The film will have other big actors from outside India. ''Blood Brothers', my short film on AIDS, is written by Matthew Robbins, who works with Steven Spielberg. It's time we in Mumbai stopped thinking only of NRI audiences.' Composer Shrivastava, currently in collaboration with American rapper Wyclef Jean for a fusion album, will now record a song with Shakira. Speaking from New York Shrivastava said: 'The track is ready. And it's called 'King & Queen'. Wyclef and Shakira will do the prime vocals while I'll contribute alaaps and other raga-classical intonations right across the track.' Lately, a lot of American singers, especially rappers, have been adapting a lot of Bollywood music. However, 'King & Queen' will be the first track where an Indian composer-singer will be part of an original composition with two American pop artistes. Earlier, Asha Bhosle collaborated with US singer Boy George and more recently with the US jazz quartet Kronos Quartet for a remix of R.D. Burman's songs. For two years, ace cinematographer-director Santosh Sivan has secretly been in dialogue with Booker-winning author Michael Ondaatje, of 'The English Patient' fame, for turning his last work of fiction 'Anil's Ghost' to celluloid. 'It's true. But 'Anil's Ghost' is a difficult book to condense into two hours on celluloid, especially since Michael is possessive about every passage. Let's see,' said Sivan. Sushmita Sen is also in talks with a prominent international filmmaker to direct her highly ambitious project 'Jhansi Ki Rani'. September 13, 200717 yr Author The first single off the album is Sweetest Girl, which is already out. King and Queen might get released, but nothing is confirmed yet. If it is a single we might get to hear it before the album comes out.
September 13, 200717 yr oh goody finally some new info!! i love the title King & Queen when i read it i immediately thought carnival king and queen so it could be revisting carabbien & latin fusion which i would love to hear again from wyclef and shakira if its as strong as HDL production then i'll be very happy. i think this will be a strong ecclectic album by wyclef covering many genres with lots of fusion, he has an interesting array of artists. track 4 sound like it will be middle eastern fusion. track 5 rap, track 8 will be R'n'B soap opera drama like his previous track with mary j "911". track 7 folk fusion. track 10 downtempo jazzy bluesy. track 13 i am really intrigued to hear i love the title and it could be the strongest track on the album the carnival summer track with HDL vibe. i really want wyclef to do well and outsell arrogant and egotistical rappers like 50 pence and kanye krap. come on wyclef beat them & scoop awards!! i'm listening to "gone till november" its so good!! a subtle and laidback track and the makin runs remix is midtempo feel good head nod version. wyclef is an amazing writer, producer and remixer and working with shakira again is great news!!
September 20, 200717 yr now hear this!! you can look too.... ew2YMbp2Fvo is this a preview of the new shakira and wyclef collabo? "Bollywood meets Hollywood" aka "King and Queen" feat. shirivista. shakira isn't there performing on stage. it was performed at the one X one charity concert in toronto. what do you think? it isn't that clear and it keeps repeating its not the complete track and note no shakira vocals, i wonder how she will fit into the track. i've heard this a few times now and i love it!!! from what i hear the beat is phat and shakira fans may recognise the sample at the beginning is "enta omri" the instrumental shakira danced to on tour (see below). this new track sounds like it could be an exotic fusion dance monster  al hips don't lie don't lie but this time mixing hip hop, indian bangrah (windowsvista) and arabic sounds, could this rule in 2008? its has potential!! yes potential!! i can't wait for the finished leak with shakira!! :w00t: here is the ojos asi dance intro with "enta omri" vCR5pifScr0
September 20, 200717 yr Author I think it has a lot of potential. I love the way the sample is used and it sounds kinda punjabi. I'm not convinced this will be the song Shakira is featured on...the way it keeps being called Bollywood meets Hollywood makes me think it could be something that just Shrivastava and Wyclef cooked up for the show maybe... Hopefully some new info will come out soon :D
September 20, 200717 yr interesting....this track does seem to be called "bollywood metts hollywood". maybe its a last minute extra track that they came up with, maybe an addition to wyclef's album. could be, it is like the punjabi mc track that sampled the busta rhymes timbaland produced track which used a sample from knightrider. so "king & queen" is yet to come? how will that sound i wonder? unless!! this version has been adapted especially for for this live version and they have filled in the shakira part with their vocals. also the enta omri sample is a direct reference to shakira so there is a link there? time is the teller we must play the game of waiting  Edited September 20, 200717 yr by perfecto
September 21, 200717 yr Author Bollywood Meets Hollywood is actually a Wyclef and Chamillionaire song it turns out. They just added Enta Omri for this performance. I bet Shakira hasn't even recorded the song yet, I bet they were planning it in Toronto when all three of them were there.
September 21, 200717 yr ah the game of knowledge, yep that makes sense....so its the featuring chamillionaire track, you can hear a rappers voice in the background in some of the performance but he isn't on stage. its sounds like it will be a hot track. its looking good for wyclef's comeback. the fact wyclef, shakira and shivametimba were there meant they had time to go into a studio and work on the track or tracks (for sharapova's album too) maybe shakira wanted to add to wyclef's production. its a possibilty that they have worked on 2 tracks "L-O-V-E" and "King & Queen" but we are only getting KAQ. "L-O-V-E" could have been worked on and developed into KAQ? could be, i wonder if the enta omri sample will be used after all? ah so many questions  edit: so many typo's need to focus!! September 27, 200717 yr Author A preview of this has leaked and it sounds amazing! Very hip-hop sounding for Shakira...something completely different for her.
September 27, 200717 yr thanks ashley & me-d :friends: i think i love it!! -_- impressed so far anyway this what i make of it: the prouction in wyclef's verse is dancehall mixed with elements of miami bass (fast stuttering beats) also steel band influence plus crunk too. i can hear many influences & sounds but they blend well together. the shakira chorus is amazing the way it suddenly switches from the verse and slows down to reveal her angelic and warm plus comforting vocal. the comforting comes from the lyrics "i'll be your shelter" etc beautiful hearing shakira expressing these words!! i love the way her voice rides the production she balances it out perfectly. the transition from verse to chorus is unexpected taking you into another direction musically. wyclef made sure in her part that her voice and the beautiful way she sings gets priority, he doesn't cloud her with too much production. lyrically i love all shakira's parts plus the way wyclef says the line "many fight for the crown but there only one king many girls want the title but there only one queen" overall very happy although this isn't as strong as HDL's energetic crowd pleasing fusion production but its great see that they worked other sounds this time around. something different and fresh from the king and queen. dancehall fusion with switching tempos great idea!! i can't wait to hear it in full!!
September 29, 200717 yr Author where can i hear the song?? i want to hear it soo badly In the youtube video I posted and in the the link me-d posted.
October 3, 200717 yr Shakira sounds amazing... i can't see this being a hit tho... the shakira bit yeah, it could lead to a hit song but the wyclef start isn't that good, when will this be a single?
