Mr Mondo - The Lover Speaks is a classic album - David Freeman should've become a massive star - their version of No More 'I Love Yous' is far, far superior to the dumbed-down Anie Lennox version. His work with Alison Moyet was pretty special, too... their 'Sleep Like Breathing' was great. He writes poetry and plays in pubs around London these days....

talking of Eliminator

maybe this topic should be started again as an elimination game until we have the ten best albums.

bit of a pointless list really as everyone will have different tastes

Abba's The Visitors seems to have disappeared.... can someone add it back on, please?

So it has....

Done.

So Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen get people gagging but Janets Control and Fridas somethings going on albums don't.

Don't take it so seriously. We all have different tastes.

No that would be a different idea and a different thread

Sorry Ms Watts, didn't mean to diss your taste there. Quite a few of the albums had me gagging (especially from the Jacksons) but I have been trying to restain myself and respect other peoples taste. :teresa:

Well I came in on the end of it really so I was really gagging but I held my tongue until someone had a go at Bruce and Straits.

I should also apologise to the posters who nominated Janet and Frida.

I didn't grow up in the 80s (sadly), but one I would opt for i Grace Jones - Island Life (more of a compilation, but it's great!).

I agree, and I did think about adding it - but wasn't sure if Greatest Hits were eligible.

As for Frida's 'Something's Going On' - it's a superb album, each and every single one of the tracks. Fully deserves its place in this list.

I think by general consensus that greatest hits have been disallowed. No one has nominated any!

Well if it is ‘The Boss’ you are talking about, I guess it depends on whether people have gone for ‘Born In The U.S.A.’ or have gone for ‘The River’. Critically it always seems that ‘The River’ and ‘Nebraska’ are the essential albums to have in your collection, before you get round to purchasing ‘Born In The U.S.A.’ or others.
