Salvo, the award-winning imprint of Union Square Music, is proud to announce the release of The Big Stiff Box Set: the most comprehensive and in- depth Stiff Records compilation ever. At 98 tracks across four CDs this is the definitive overview of the groundbreaking label, from number one hits to rare curiosities.

Over five hours of digitally remastered music, there are tracks from early signings like Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe to recent, 2007 singles from The Enemy. An array of unique, quintessentially Stiff pop discoveries are taken in along the way including Kirsty MacColl, Ian Dury & The Bockheads, The Pogues and Wreckless Eric.

Stiff's massive impact on punk is explored with The Damned, The Adverts and others. It's contribution to 80s pop is covered with million-sellers like Madness, The Belle Stars and The Go-Gos, groundbreaking eccentrics like Lene Lovich and Tenpole Tudor and long-forgotten heroes ranging from Jona Lewie to Furniture.

Contributions from Devo, Yello, M, Department S and Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin tackle Stiff's work in electro-pop. Influential bands like The Prisoners and The Untouchables chart its support of the mod scene. And a cast of colourful characters from the late '70s pub-rock and blues boom - Dr Feelgood, Lew Lewis and Mickey Jupp among them - chart Stiff's musical roots.

This special DVD-sized box set comes with a full colour 68-page book featuring a label history, new interviews, biographies of every artist featured and as many photos, sleeves, flyers and badges as we could squeeze in!

This is the ultimate anthology of Stiff Records, charting 30 years of one of the most daring and influential labels in UK pop history. A celebration of Stiff `The World's Most Flexible label' across 98 tracks , from number one hits to rare curiosities, and a 68 page full colour booklet.

I bought this new release Today for £15.95 in HMV today. It is unsurprisingly (to my musical tastes) brilliant. Are any of you fans of this one time legendary Independent Record Label?

I saw this in HMV for £15.95. That is very good value for this collection. I thought it would be nearer to £50.

I was wondering, however, if ‘ZTT Records’ has anything more to do with the ‘Stiff Records’ label. I was wondering who ‘Union Square Records were, as they are listed as the main license holders for these recordings.

that's an absolute, total bargain.... Stiff released some of the finest music of the 70s and 80s - personal faves were Kirsty, Lene Lovich, Ian Dury, Jona Lewie, Theatre of Hate and Furniture. And I love the Dave Stewart/Barbara Gaskin single - takes me back to the day, that one

A cracking buy - and a must-have for any self-respecting music fan, I think
