Harman was a DREADFULLY wooden actor, but yeah, what does that matter when you can plonk him on the front cover of Heat every week
he was hugely popular especially with females, although i didnt mind him as a charactor i always felt sharon was always out acting him

The regret of bringing the first Den back was enough

EastEnders creator Tony Holland has passed away aged 67.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed that he died in a London hospital after a long period of being unwell.

Holland created the flagship BBC soap, which was first broadcast in 1985, with the late Julia Smith.

He was also involved in the creation of shows such as Angels, District Nurse and Eldorado.

Holland won the British Soap Awards special achievement award in 2002.

EastEnders executive producer Diedeick Santer paid tribute to Holland's "genius", saying: "All of us at EastEnders are forever indebted to him for creating the programme with the late Julia Smith.

"Tony will be remembered with great affection and respect by everyone at EastEnders."

BBC Creative Director Alan Yentob said: "Tony was intimately involved in every aspect of the show for the first four years including the classic blockbuster Christmas episode featuring Dirty Den and Angie in 1986."

Holland is credited with casting half of the original EastEnders cast, including Wendy Richard as Pauline Fowler, who was considered by many at the time to be too glamorous for the role.
