Posted September 26, 200717 yr ROBBIE RECEIVES GUINNESS WORLD RECORD... PR Newswire via TRWS http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/61cWW0AEGKL._AA240_.jpg Girls Aloud have smashed their way into the new Guinness World Records 2008 edition for Most Consecutive Top Entries in the UK by a Female Group by clocking up their 17th top 10 entry with 'Walk this Way' and demolishing Destiny's Child previous record of eleven. UK Rivals the Spice Girls have their work cut out if they want to set the record straight when they return to the stage as they have managed just 10 top ten entries. Released on 28th September 2007, the new book reveals that the girl fight is not limited to girl bands, as Madonna steals Cher's crown for Highest Grossing Music Tour per Concert. The winning 'Confessions' tour was seen by 1.2 million fans grossing an estimate of GBP100 million, an average of 1.6 million per concert! The Queen of Pop doesn't stop there, knocking Kate Bush off her spot for Most no.1 Albums by a Female Artist with her ninth, and highly successful album 'Confessions on a Dance Floor'. Not to be outshone the men prove that they are top of the records list too as Robbie Williams defies his critics and makes David Bowie share the title for the Most Albums to Reach no.1 in the UK by a British Male Solo Artist. Robbie's critically panned album Rudebox went straight to the top of the UK chart in November 2006, equalling David Bowie's record of 8 from 1993. Unlike Bowie however, Williams also chalked up three No.1s as a group member of Take That. The Rolling Stones prove that they still have what it takes with their 2006 'Bigger Bang' tour becoming the Highest Grossing Music Tour earning over GBP226 million, beating their own previous record from the 1997-8 "Bridges to Babylon" tour. And in keeping with the times, Guinness World Records announce a new record for iTunes for the Most Songs Downloaded from One Company, selling over 1 billion downloaded tracks in three years - the billionth being the aptly named Speed of Sound by Coldplay! The all new Guinness World Records 2008 edition is on sale from 28 September 2007, and is bursting with new records, statistics, celebrity gossip and incredible images. September 26, 200717 yr Author What brilliant news about Rob being in the Guinness Book Of Records once again. :D The single most successful British male in UK music history. Quite phenomenal really, when you think that he has only been releasing album for less than a decade, whilst the likes of Bowie, Elt, Rod, Macca and so on have been going for thirty or forty + years and have released three or four times more albums. Rob's success truly is unique. :cheer:
