Are they good reviews then from Greece?

they are good reviews in general...in greek blogs & magazines you ll find even better reviews ...

 

the problem in greece is that the critics dislike uk hype bands...even if they are good -like the arctics- these bands dont get the recognition they really deserve...anyway

 

most of the critics in FWN's case are talkin about a band that finally wasnt just hype...that they came back with a 2nd album even better than their debut n that they are capable of even greater things...

Ohhh I see. Well taking those points into consideration I think these reviews are really good. ^_^ Especially the fact Arctic Monkeys were REALLY hyped.

Ahhh they all seem pretty good(ish) reviews apart from the 1st two which seem very harsh and awful. :lol:

Arctics write song about Jeremy Kyle

The Arctic Monkeys have written a song about the lie detector tests taken on The Jeremy Kyle Show.

 

Drummer Matt Helders revealed that the TV show inspired a track the band wrote on their recent world tour.

 

He told the Big Issue: "We had a power cut on the bus and while we were parked at the side of the road I got this acoustic guitar out.

 

"Some people were still in bed but we did this song for about six minutes about Jeremy Kyle. About this lie detector test."

 

Bassist Nick O'Malley also claimed that the group would record their third album in "one wacky weekend" next year.

At least this confirms the new album will be ready for next year! :D ^_^

The 3rd most downloaded iTunes album of 2007! :D Which is quite funny when you think about it, as Arctic Monkeys have never been THAT big on downloads, but it seems their album was quite popular on downloads. ^_^

Arctic Monkeys consider releasing one-off singles soon

Arctic Monkeys plan to head to the studio to record new material soon, and are considering releasing it via one-off non-album singles.

 

Speaking to BBC 6Music, drummer Matt Helders explained that the band are thinking about moving away from conventional album releases.

 

"We've got things written, several new ideas and new songs that are ready to record," he said. "We will do recording early on. We might not necessarily record and then release an album. We might just do little bits at once or [release] singles.

 

"There's really nothing planned. It just depends how it goes, which is a nice change. We can go into the studio and not necessarily have to have something done by, like, the end of the month. It'll be like, 'Just see what happens'"

 

One of the songs under consideration is 'Sandtrap', which Arctic Monkeys played live for the first time in the UK when they kicked their British tour off at London's Alexandra Palace on Saturday (December 8).

Sandtrap should be on the album, not a stand-alone single!

Arctic Monkeys, in collaboration with The Big Issue, are producing a special tour supplement which will be on sale exclusively to their fans at all venues on their forthcoming UK dates. The supplement will be included in a special edition of next week’s Christmas Big Issue and features never before seen photos and accompanying text by the band and crew documenting Arctic Monkeys’ spectacular 2007.

All the stuff about what they're doing with the new album [and some stuff about Sandtrap] was in the Big Issue, issue I believe. :lol: I think they've also done a new photoshoot for it as well. Not sure though.

Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner are set to remix The Hives' new single.

 

Helders tackles the new single itself ’We Rule The World (T.H.E.H.I.V.E.S)’, while Zinner remolds ’Tick Tick Boom’.

 

The single – produced by Pharrell Williams – is released on February 25 and is available as a digital download and a limited ten-inch single.

 

The Hives are currently inviting fans to design the artwork for the physical release.

Noel Gallagher voted 'coolest Brit'

 

 

Noel Gallagher has been voted the coolest man in Britain by readers of mens monthly Zoo magazine.

 

The 40-year-old Oasis star topped the poll ahead of a Top five featuring Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard, Doctor Who star David Tennant, James Bond actor Daniel Craig and David Beckham.

 

Zoo editor Ben Todd said: "These inaugural awards have revealed some quite surprising results with Noel Gallagher, who has acquired something of an 'elder statesman' role, topping the poll.

 

"It shows that he is someone young people today strive to be like - perhaps even more so than when Oasis dominated the charts a decade ago."

 

Other music stars in the countdown included Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner at 10, Liam Gallagher at No. 22, Sir Paul McCartney at 55, Sir Mick Jagger at 73 and Simon Cowell at number 98.
