September 28, 200717 yr I feel bad now. I haven't given it a chance. I'll report back when I've heard it some more. I can't download it as I have no broadband. :(
September 28, 200717 yr to me this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better! Sorry.... and i 'NEVER' say that about originals!! not even 'Born to be Wild' by The Cult!!! ^_^ Edited September 28, 200717 yr by Supreme
September 28, 200717 yr Robbie sounds perfectly relaxed and in his usual sexy element in this song!!! I cant stop playing it!! http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g107/supreme_album/Smileys/heartbeat.gif http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g107/supreme_album/Smileys/heartbeat.gif Edited September 28, 200717 yr by Supreme
September 28, 200717 yr I heard it this morning and I thought it was brilliant - certainly the best cover I've heard from this 40 years of Radio 1 album out on Monday and there have been quite a few cover versions that left me underwhelmed: For example I thought Kylie's take on Roxy Music's Love Is The Drug was very poor (I hope it is not a bad omen for the album), Natasha Bedingfield's take on Madonna's Ray Of Light stripped all the greatness out of the song, Girls Aloud's take on Wheatus' Teenage Dirtbag was utterly pointless, Razorlight's version of Sting's Englishman In New York sounded like a half-arsed Police impersonation, etc. Apart from Robbie, only the Foo Fighters take on Paul McCartney's Wings' Band On The Run, Sterophonics take on Hot Chocolate's You Sexy Thing & Franz Ferdinand's take on David Bowie's Sound & Vision have impressed me. However only Robbie's cover is the only track I've heard so far that I think is better than the original. IMsnqQHOwFg The Kinks - Lola

IMsnqQHOwFg The Kinks - Lola Woah, did'nt expect you to think it was better than the original :o I'm glad you think so highly of it. ^_^ The more I listen to it, the more I would tend to agree though. It gets better with each listen. Guy Chambers did a great job producing the track, and I love Gary Nuttal's guitar work on this. As well obviously as Rob as I'm sure he played a big part in the way the track sounds. ^_^ Do you have the track itself? If not I can send you a link to download it.
September 28, 200717 yr sorry to the fans of the original one,but I prefer Robbie's version too. It's more sexy and :music:
September 28, 200717 yr i too always defend the originals and while lola by the kinks will always be in my heart....ive got lots and lots of room for robbies cover!! :D :D I love it!!!

I did not know Guy Chambers produced it, but thinking about it, it does sound like the classic Williams/Chambers sound... Thanks for offering, but the track is up on Youtube & I'll be buying the album on Monday. (Lightbulb moment) Just a thought....... As the album is out next week I wonder if this cover version could go Top40 by next Sunday on downloads from the album?????? :w00t:
September 28, 200717 yr I'll let you all know tonight what my american hard-core rock friends in my chris daughtry forum think about it! :) Ive got the link in there now so just waiting for them all to listen to it now....i have to get back to work now but ill check for their opinions tonight!! :) I've got a feeling they will be mostly defending 'the kinks' original tho.......but we'll see!! ^_^

I definatly has the Williams/Chambers sound to it and I so hope whatever they are working on for his next album has this rock sound to it. As brilliant as he is doing ballads, pop anthems etc, the more rock materal suits him so much. A LTAL 2 would be perfect. B) And I hope you are right and it does go top 40. Hopefully alot of fans will download it to get a proper quality version. The one from youtube is very bad quality compared to the way it actually sounds. I will definatly be buying the album though, if not monday I will download the official version. ^_^
September 28, 200717 yr I'm attempting a download on dial-up. 18 minutes it says. I've pre-ordered the album too. :cheer:
September 28, 200717 yr If I'd not known Rob was singing I'd never say it was him, his voice sounds completely different ... in a good way LOL In all honesty, I've never been crazy about the song to begin with, but I think Rob's version sounds much better. It sounds more cleaned up, his voice is great on it. Can't say I love it. I like it and love what Rob did with it, but I've only listened to it twice so I may grow to LOVE it. I do have La La La La Lola stuck in my head though, which is a good thing I think  Its a strange thing with Rob in that he tends to do covers that sound better than the originals and usually I hate covers because IMO they're always second rate, but when Rob does them they surpass the originals for some odd reason. He has a way of making any song his own which still astounds me. Edited September 28, 200717 yr by RF4L
September 28, 200717 yr Author i kind of like it....BUT, covers, :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: I don't see the problem. I don't like covers on his actual albums, but this is for an actual covers album for Radio 1 where all the acts cover classics. ^_^
September 28, 200717 yr 25 minutes downloading one song  But I have it :cheer: And it's blaring in my headphones as we speak. I'm liking it much better now. I'll report back tomorrow. Need to go now. Dial up is costing me big time. :(
September 28, 200717 yr Sounds great :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: I agree with RF4L, if I hadnt known that Robbie was going to cover this song, it would of taken me a few listens to actually realise it was Robbies voice  My cd has been posted today :yahoo: :yahoo: Edited September 28, 200717 yr by Sparkle
