That is the amount of money shakira has donated to a charity in latin america this week... reported in today's newspaper.. supposidly to help peru after an earthquake? .. How much money has shakira got?! lol!

Shakira has just pledged over $45 million to charity.

 

Through the Latin America for Solidarity Foundation, ALAS, which means wings in Spanish, which she co-founded, she will donate $40 mill to repair damage caused by an earthquake in Peru and a hurricane in Nicaragua.

 

She also announced on Thursday, during a chat at Bill Clinton’s big pow wow in NY, that she was also spearheading a three-year, $5 million commitment for projects for children in the region, where about 40 percent of the population lives in poverty.

 

“I’ve seen first-hand many of the challenges facing Latin America,” she said in a statement. “These are challenging problems that no one person can address, but working together everyone can help make a difference.”

Maybe she has more than we think.. photoshoots, singles, albums, DVDs, that whopping tour plus previous tours, tv appearences? sponsorships.. she makes alot more than most celebs and doesn't seem to waste alot of it on things such as designer clothes.. so she prob does have alot more money than people would think.

I suppse she realises that money can only go so far to make you happy, and when you already are content with what you have, you should give it to other people because even a miniscule amount can make all the difference to someones life ^_^ .

I didn't mean what she donated what miniscule :lol: I mean that even a small amount of donated money can make a difference, so what Shakira is donating will make a big difference to many people :P

 

What is Shakiras net worth? I think that she must be fine to give this away without being too much in trouble of debt, or this report is fake. Or it could be a set of money she will donate over a certain amount of years.

Thats a LOT of money

Shakira sells a lot in a lot of different places. That, plus the fact that she has so much control over her music must mean that she is absolutely minted!

 

It's so generous of her to give this much... The thing with rich people is some just keep amassing money for the sake of it, when they probably already have anything they could ever want. That's why I love Shakira so much for doing this :D :wub:
