Edwyn Collins has just released his first album since his massive stroke (cerebral haemmorage) back in 2005.

A Girl Like You has always been one of my favourite party songs and I was really saddened to hear he had 2 strokes and also contracted golden staph during his

recovery back in 2005.

But he's back with a new single called You'll Never Know (My Love) from his new album HOME AGAIN.

Both were released this month. The album was recorded before he got sick but was mixed afterwards.

He has a myspace page to listen to some new songs. Maybe if you have a myspace account you can drop by and give him some kind words of support.

Here is a recent interview about how he's doing...he's planning on touring again soon. What a trouper!!

I heard the single on the radio this week and it's a really good song. I'll have to listen to more before deciding whether to buy the album.
It's amazing that he has recovered so well after what he's been through, I read that he still has difficulty playing guitar but is teaching his wife to play for him, so he can still write songs. Lets hope he can still improve and maybe one day be able to perform again. Heard his new song and its surprisingly good.

Yes, his new single You'll Never Know was a Record Of The Week on Radio 2 and is currently in my Personal Chart Top 10......

However, as this is a Retro forum here are a few of his career highlights from one of Scotland's finest singer/songwriters of the last 25 years:

Orange Juice - Can't Help Myself (UK#42 1982)

Orange Juice - Rip It Up (UK#8 1983)

Orange Juice - What Presence? (UK#47 1984)

Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You (UK#4 1994)

Buy the album.

His new album is superb and, after all that has happened to him, it is great to see him on the way back to his full health.

It is hard to decide on a preference because you can compare both artists in many different ways.

You could compare their hit records or compare them because they are Scottish vocalists who work in similar vocal style, you could compare their former bands or as another way you could consider all the production work, guest slots and ‘Luaka Bop’, which might change the outcome again. I do not have a preference, I like both of them.
