Cheryl Cole Exclusive Interview!!!

For the last five years Girls Aloud have been Britain’s premiere girl group. Scoring a succession of sixteen Top 10 hits, they left The Spice Girls for dust with their rather paltry ten. What’s more they show no sign of slowing down anytime soon. We catch up for an exclusive chat with Cheryl Cole about being signed to Fascination, Girls Aloud’s new album and suggest an idea for their new video…

What does being on the Fascination label mean to you?

We’ve always had a really close relationship with Peter Lorraine who is the founder of Fascination. It’s amazing he was able to do that with his first company.

What do you think of the other artists that are signed to the label?

We’ve got a huge amount of respect for any artist regardless what label they’re on. We can appreciate everyone but it’s obviously nicer when you support each other which is the case on Fascination.

Is there anyone in particular on the label that you feel proud to work alongside?

Sophie’s been around for years so it’s a bit strange being on her label when you listened to her songs when you were growing up. We see Sophie around a lot, she’s a really nice girl.

How does Fascination differ from Polydor?

Well, Fascination is obviously a lot smaller because it is a newer label. Obviously that’s better in some aspects because they can really focus on your needs as an artist. Whereas at Polydor they have so many acts sometimes it’s hard to get the attention you need.

What can we expect from your new album?

It’s definitely heading in a more mature direction. We’re not necessarily singing about things that we would have when we were 16. Now we’re singing about things that you talk about in your early 20s. There aren’t very many ballads. At the moment there’s only one! The rest are mid-tempo and then there’s obviously the typical Girls Aloud bangers. There’s even a garage sounding track on there.

What about the next single?

It’s going to be ‘Call the Shots.’ I loved ‘Sexy! No No No…’ but I actually prefer ‘Call the Shots’ ‘S! NNN…’ was a great track and it let people know we’re back. A lot of people seem to be using that vocoder now, like Kanye and Shayne Ward. So we’re proud to be doing that first!

The guys in the office thought you might want to dress up as Robin Hood for the video to ‘Call the Shots.’

Hmm….I’m not so sure little boots and tights would be such a good look.
