Posted October 4, 200717 yr The film recently premiered at a film festival and some lucky people have had the opportunity to hear Shakira's songs that are used in the film. The songs used are: Pienso En Ti :o Hay Amores La Despedida I'm surprised they used Pienso En Ti but I can imagine it fitting in perfectly with the film, especially if it's been re recorded which will be so interesting to hear! Can't wait to hear the other two new songs either! The trailer is released on Oct 9th so hopefully we will be able to hear one of Shakira's songs although I'm not holding my breath. The film is released November 16th in America. I don't think there's a UK release set yet, but it will probably be next year, along with the other European countries. http://www.impawards.com/2007/posters/love_in_the_time_of_cholera.jpg
October 4, 200717 yr i hope it had a good reception, those critics :hithead: i hope they didn't say ita like a tv film  like i thought it looked like. no matter i am looking forward to hearing the new tracks and the new version of pens in tea
October 4, 200717 yr Nice! I can´t wait for the film :cheer: And ts gonna be interesting to listen these songs in the movie. ^_^
October 16, 200717 yr notice how it mentions shakira's songs. i think the film company are really happy and confident with her tracks. could they be trying to get the academys attention? i think so. the film is long over 2 hours and rated R. i don't know if it will do well. here is a random guy that has seen it and gives his review... http://www.awardsdaily.com/2007/10/love-in...0.html#comments I saw this movie on the premiere at the Rio Film Festival. Mike Newell, Catalino Sandino Moreno and Fernanda Montenegro were there. The movie was very good, even though it seems one of those 'correct movies' - lots of emotions, but all very confined to the rules of the genre 'forbidden love'. I haven't read the novel, but those who did said the movie was quite faithful to it, but lacking its breathtaking qualities. Bardem is very good at this, showing a sensibility that I didnt expect (since he often plays very strong characters). Giovanna Mezzogiorno is shining in the movie and hope she becomes a major star(which should've happened immediately after the original THE LAST KISS). Expect Shakira to sing at the Oscars - her interpretation is quite poetic and touching for someone whose hips don't lie. The photography by Brazilian Afonso Beato (Almodovar's habitue) has a great chance to be nominated as well. I dunno to what extent this can have the power to reach the top 5. If the academy is the mood for a love story in the 'classical mode' (that slot already been occupied by ATONEMENT) and the charm of a Latin America sexy background (a lot of sex scenes with Bardem, yay!) seduces those 80 year old voters, then Oprah's work won't have been in vain. the end. notice he isn't a shakira fan. he only knows HDL side to her so what he is saying is really great news!! that her music in the film is touching and poetic. he would have known that if he bought any of her spanish or english albums :hithead: i think an oscar nomination is possible, i don't care about winning just to see he get some recognition in this way would be amazing. also getting nominated means attending the oscars and performing!! :cheer:
October 16, 200717 yr Author If she performed at the Oscars it would be incredible. These songs really need to leak. I have a feeling they will be leaked by the film company as some extra promo for the film.
October 18, 200717 yr OH. MY. GOD. Imagine if she got oscar nominated! That would be amazing, are the songs in spanish? If so i hope she performs! If not.. then her performance might not be too good as she isn't use to singing those songs in english! When are nominee's announced? I doubt she will be nominated tho.
October 19, 200717 yr Author Not sure when the nominations are released...is it usually in the new year? 20 sec clip of La Despedida - sounds amazing! EDIT: This is actually Hay Amores! JtWW9IFfa6Q Edited October 27, 200717 yr by Ashley
October 19, 200717 yr wow very traditional and throwback, apparently this is a colombian bolero sound which would suit the film. i can't wait to hear the full track. also new info: Los Angeles (October 18, 2007) – To celebrate the release of the Colombia-set romantic drama Love in the Time of Cholera and her contributions to its soundtrack, international recording/performing sensation Shakira will give a special performance of songs from the soundtrack at a November 6 event serving both as the Las Vegas premiere of the film and as a benefit for The Bare Feet Foundation (Pies Descalzos Foundation). The evening, which takes place at the Palms Casino Resort beginning at 6:00 p.m., will be hosted by Stone Village Pictures, New Line Cinema, Scott Steindorff, and Robin and Danny Greenspun, and co-sponsored by the N9NE Group, the CineVegas Film Festival, Brenden Theatres and the Palms Casino Resort. The event kicks off with a dinner and silent auction at Rain nightclub, with all proceeds going to The Bare Feet Foundation, a Colombian nonprofit aiding children and their families established through the commitment of Shakira. Following the benefit dinner, Shakira will give a selection of songs from Love in the Time of Cholera. Winner of two Grammy Awards and eight Latin Grammys, the songstress collaborated with Stone Village Pictures to record original songs for the soundtrack. The evening concludes at the Palms’ Brenden Theatres with the Las Vegas premiere of Love in the Time of Cholera, which opens wide in the U.S. on November 16. “I am grateful to all of those behind this film who are supporting the important work of The Bare Feet Foundation. Bare Feet supports children and families who have been disenfranchised and displaced by the ongoing conflict in my native Colombia, the beautiful land which Garcia Marquez describes with such lushness in Love in the Time of Cholera,” said Shakira. “Shakira is a woman with immense talent and compassion, and it comes through poignantly in her music and even more so in her actions. My partners, Robin and Danny Greenspun and I, are honored to collaborate with her as an artist and as a humanitarian and hope this event will draw attention to the fine work The Bare Feet Foundation does on a daily basis” said Scott Steindorff of Stone Village Pictures. Love in the Time of Cholera tells the epic love story of a man who waits 50 years for the love of his life amid the lush, romantic backdrop of early 20th century South America. Based on Gabriel Garcia Márquez’s acclaimed book of the same title, Love in the Time of Cholera was adapted for the screen by Academy Award winner Ronald Harwood (The Pianist) and directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral). The film stars Academy Award nominee Javier Bardem, Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Benjamin Bratt. About The Bare Feet Foundation: The Bare Feet Foundation was born in Barranquilla, on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, in the mid-1990s when international recording artist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Shakira decided to take the social compromise of encouraging and advocating for education, nutrition, and health of the most vulnerable population: children. The Foundation runs support programs for children and their families, offering solutions to improve their quality of life and providing opportunities to execute their right to education, paving the way for their growth and development in society. October 19, 200717 yr Wow, the movie looks so good! & the song has a very traditional Spanish feel to it. I think it's a bit early to be talking about Oscar nominations. From what i've heard though, there is oscar buzz around the movie, so there is a chance of a nomination in the Original Soundtrack field.
October 25, 200717 yr Author Hay Amores sounds amazing! http://www.eltiempo.com/multimedia/video/e...OS-3780403.html
October 25, 200717 yr Author zrlGH4JyAKc Apparently the song used in this trailer is Despedida so the 20sec clip that leaked must've been Hay Amores.
October 25, 200717 yr Hay Amores sounds amazing! Her voice sounds so strong and wow, and the instrumentation is so simple it goes perfectly
October 27, 200717 yr Author The full version of Hay amores is being played on Colombian radio. A rip has leaked but it is horrendous quality.
October 28, 200717 yr Author Is an OST of the soundtrack being released? It's out in 10 days in America so not long to wait for the HQs :D Also, I read an article that mentioned Pienso En Ti and it said something like "a version of Pienso En Ti" which I hope implies it has been re recorded!
October 30, 200717 yr Author Hay Amores sounds amazing! I really love it now. So here's the best we've got so far.. 2 mins of Hay Amores: tk-idnDVwJ0 Despedida trailer: zrlGH4JyAKc
