It was bizarre, I'm glad some other people on here are disappointed by it too. The second episode was sad, but it was nothing special unfortunately :(

they could have give Vera a better send off for that  she was a legend!
i watched corrie tonight as i liked the show years ago and vera was a legend but i was disgusted with her exit it was not a tear jerker and they should have done better, the writers should be shot fir letting a legend like vera go out in such a waek way

Molly was fantastic tonight, shes definately improved alot since Emmerdale. Hopefully she will be a long term character. ^_^
It was beyond dissapointing. It is just pure disrespectful that such a soap legend would get such a woe-fully poor send off. And with all the extra viewers they knew they would get (it was all over Sky News today) you would think some bloody effort would be put in. I have never been a big fan of Corrie, but it generally manages to pull off the big storylines well in the past, what has happened? It must be the writers because since the Tracy trail early last year it has been very poor IMO.
if they dont huge figures there is something wrong as it was plastered all over loose woman and sky news all day plus the press what i cant understand is they hit the promotional tool big time to let people know she was exiting tonight but they forgot to get a decent storyline going,

I wasnt disappointed really.

Vera got her exit. Liz Dawn has been really ill in real life so we couldn't have expected her to do much.

I was annoyed that put that Michelle character in it though; her whinging got right on my t*ts.

Kym Ryder is great though, a real surprise IMO and who would of thought it when she first appeared? But i do agree that she got a bit too much time tonight along with Carla and Liam.

Whoever said it wasnt a tear jerker must have been watching a different show! I cryed all the way through the second ep.

I thought it was absolutely rubbish, at least showing us Vera die, maybe looking at that photograph would have been so much better.

I am honestly disgusted that, that was the send off they gave Vera!

I reckon it should have just been an hour of only Jack and Vera. just them sat together or something LMAO

so disappointed :(

What a horrid exit to such a wonderful character. How it should have been was Vera looking at old photos with Jack there complaining, have the character Vera almost having a monologue reflecting on her life from where she was to where she is now. And then die. That would have been a beautiful exit.

I don't understand why folk are disappointed with the 'star quality' of the death. The character was a woman in her seventies, hadn't been in too great health, and sadly ... that is the way most people who arrive at that stage in life die ... heart failure ... quite boring yes, but the result is the same. I think some people here may have preferred a herd of stampeding wilderbeest storm over the cobbles, Vera runs out to snatch a small child from certain death and then die in Roy Cropper's arms ... telling him to tell Jack she loves him and that she's sorry she won't be able to do more shifts in the cafe.

I totally agree. Considering the actress is ill in real life, I thought her ending was touching and understated. It very much reminded me of the way Derek Hilton & Hilda Ogden were written out of the show with similar "is that it?" type endings. At least it is a damn sight more realistic of real life to those of us who have lost loved ones....

Sadly, too many posters here on Buzzjack have got used to OTT deaths from watching Eastenders.

Yeah right  Corrie have had more than their fair share of OTT unrealistic deaths over the years. A normal send-off with the person just dying can be very effective, for example in EE when Nana Moon died, or Ethel. Both were normal deaths, but were extremly touching. Those two charachter were only in EE for a very short time compared to Vera in Corrie, so for a charachter that had been in it for what 35 years?, she deserved better clearly.

Ethel was in Eastenders from the beginning. Everyone remembers Ethel and her little Willy! You're right though ... the scenes were touching. Couldn't really be bothered with Nana Moon though (although I liked the actress) her character was just too daft to be believed.

We were discussing exciting endings though on TTTV and think a much more fitting end may have been for the pigeons to break free from their coup and peck to death a weakened and tired out Vera. Nah .... too believable.

It was poorly written and had too much going on in, IMO.

Nothing to do with EastEnders .

Loads of people have been going on about Vera dying  I never watched it but i would have probably cried because i'm a gimp.

It cant have been more heartbreaking than the Nan dying on The Royle Family. Now THAT was awful :(

I don't cry at much, but I cried at Nana dying on Royle Family :kink: It was really sad :o

Loads of people who I saw today thought it was really sad. Her actual death wasn't, but the second episode really was. :(
