Scotland are on the verge of overtaking England in the Fifa world rankings. Scotland have rised to 13th in the rankings, the highest they have ever been. England have dropped to 11th after defeat to Russia. Should scotland maintain their current position when the world cup qualifing draw is made then they would be in the 2nd group of seeds for qualifying. In the euro 2008 qualifiers they were ranked in the 4th bunch of seeds. The republic of ireland are 32nd just in front of northen ireland ranked in 36th. Wales are a distant 58th. The top 3 in the world rankings are Argentina, Brazil and Italy who are 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectivly.

Fifa world rankings

1. Argentina

2. Brazil

3. Italy

11. England

13. Scotland

32. R. Ireland

36. N. Ireland

58. Wales

how Argentina are top I cannot fathom  the mighty Brazil knocked the arrogant diving team right off their pedestal in the Copa America
Wahey! I'd love to see Scotland above England in the rankings. Has there ever been a better incentive to beat Italy?

The FIFA rankings mean absolutley nothing.

Aren't Mexico ranked something like 6th? That speaks for itself.

well they are rather good :P (usually)

the most insane moment was when the USA reached 4th

Mexico and USA always go crazily high because the sides they play are always $h!t so they win 99% of their games. Croatia are a good side though and well worthy of their #10 position.
They changed them after the last world cup so quality of opposition was more of a factor. I'm sure Mexico and the USA both took large tumbles in the next one published.
