November 4, 200717 yr None of whom have a music career as successful as Madonna's. and none have deserved one, either, have they? Love her or loathe her, Madonna is the most consistently enduring and entertaining female pop star on the planet. She proves you simply don't need vocal histrionics and a multi-octave voice to sing pop songs.
November 4, 200717 yr Oh, I agree. Madonna proves that talent anything above average in the singing department isn't necessary to be a stage performer and recording artist. ^_^
November 4, 200717 yr I don't see how the judges believe we have a "gap in the market" for Hope anyway  Sugababes and GA are not at their peaks, but certainly not too far away from them, and PCD will be back soon! Not to mention the Spice Girls :manson: I know! Louis makes me laugh when he keeps banging on about getting girl bands back in the charts. Is he competely stupid? I think Futureproof were the right act to go out of the bottom two, although Andy gave the worst performance of the night.
November 4, 200717 yr Just caught Alisha's performance on the repeat show. I thought she did incredible. Vocals were pitchy in places, but overall she did great.
November 4, 200717 yr Disagree - Alisha has the ballsy attitude required for the music business - but she simply doesn't have the voice. She only just managed 'Valerie' - it was way off in places, reed-thin in others..... I think she stayed in this week because her tears won the public over - she got the sympathy vote. Plus - who styles this show? Each and every week, they've dressed her in absolutely hideous outfits - the pink bow last week was revolting, the lime green this week was horrible. In fact - all the styling has been way below par for them all. Andy's ghastly all-white ensemble was pushing the Westlife/Boyzone look - not a good one, Rhydian never manages to look anything less than ridiculous, Hopeless always look like slappers tripping out of a Yates' wine lodge at 2am, Futureproof's suits stripped them of any individuality they may have had, Nikki's dress was way too tight and grossly unflattering. Only Beverley looked well-groomed and well-styled this week. It's Alisha and Andy next off I reckon.
November 4, 200717 yr Geri Halliwell? Victoria Beckham? Girls Aloud? Westlife? None of them have sold quite as much as Madonna ;)
November 4, 200717 yr Just caught Alisha's performance on the repeat show. I thought she did incredible. Vocals were pitchy in places, but overall she did great. I loved Alisha's performance, I really like her voice, Simon was right (as always unlike Louis) she performed great and showed that she deserved to be in the competition. Also theres nothing wrong with Same Difference  I'd vote for them and I'd buy their music ^_^ They are just having a good time and they are good at what the do. As for Geri, Victoria, Girls Aloud & Westlife they all HAVE talent, its only down to opinion whether one would think they do or not, but they have done something right to have all done so well, so they must have some form of talent.

Talent? Or great, great marketing teams behind them?
November 4, 200717 yr Talent? Or great, great marketing teams behind them? Well they must have some form of talent otherwise they wouldn't have got to where they are today.
November 4, 200717 yr All this talk of a fix really annoys me - if he had the ability to do so we would not have seen a Shayne vs Andy final in the second series. Also, any shows with public votes are under such tight surveillance now, any sort of voting scam would potentially spell the end of the show and lord knows ITV don't need anymore bad voting publicity. Anyway if I was Simon I would want to win on merit and also not have a show winner that then goes on to sell pittance because, actually, no-one was voting for them after all. Also, if there was any of that going on, surely Louis or Kate would have spoken out about it when they got the axe?! It just couldn't happen, surely.. ANYWAY onto the show. Mikey you seem to have a real bias against Leon whatever he does! Up first tonight I thought he was incredible! Look at the change in one week, he took the advice about nerves and he absolutely smashed it. Futureproof, I'm glad someone brought up the choreography, I didn't like Simon claiming his acts had any less time this week. There wasn't too much special in the way of harmonising, it was good, not amazing. I thought Niki coped exceptionally well in a place outside her comfort zone and showed real character. I was with Sharon, left speechless at Rhydian. I don't like the Bassey version, this was worse and tacky. However the guy has exceptional vocal ability. Same Difference - enjoyable, but not as good as usual for me, I was surprised to see people saying they were improving, for me that was just carrying on where they left off, be good to see them try something different Alisha - definitely her best yet and a good choice of song but anyone is going to pale in comparison to the Amy vocal. I agree with JBM I think it was, though I really like her and her attitude, I don't know if she has the ability to hit the big notes and take the songs to climax. Hope - pretty good, weird song choice but good to hear them all singing. Leah particularly did a great vocal. Andy - the guy has a great voice and towards the end of the song he was exceptional but the song itself just didn't work for him. I hope next week he can do what Beverley and Alisha did this week and find the song for him, cause I think he's so much more than 'a pretty face' Beverley - performance of the series? 01. Beverley 02. Leon 03. Niki 04. Hope 05. Andy 06. Same Difference 07. Alisha 08. Futureproof 09. Rhydian. And overall: 01. Niki 02. Leon 03. Andy 04. Beverley 05. Same Difference 06. Alisha 07. Hope 08. Rhydian Right result from the final two I thought, Futureproof could have been exceptional with a Justin Timberlake song or something really contemporary somewhere along the line but they disappointed. They had two really excellent vocalists too. I hope Hope go soon though, they are not half as talented as some of those remaining.
November 5, 200717 yr Well they must have some form of talent otherwise they wouldn't have got to where they are today. I'm really unsure as to what Victoria Beckham or Geri Halliwell can be classed as 'talented' over? The Spice Girls were a big old nasty fraud - a band set up to promote, ahem, 'Girl Power' (a term invented and publicised some five years before by all-female grunge band L7) - but a band who, ultimately, were manufactured, moulded and 100% controlled by? Men. Vocally - both are abysmal. So what are their talents? We live in an unfortunate age when, to be famous, an actual talent isn't really required - the hunger for fame is all-consuming. The actual supposed reason for this fame, to most, is irrelevant.

Singing is a talent and they can do that. Edit: Here is a performance of Victoria singing live. Her voice is really nice. Even if Spice Girls were a fraud which seems a bit silly they must have had talent to get into the group otherwise they wouldn't have been in it. DHENe3ZEZVs Edited November 5, 200717 yr by Simon.
November 5, 200717 yr There will be no "fix" ever again (if there ever was one) because all of these shows are getting fined and in trouble for fooling the public - you have seen it all in the news everything you see on x factor will be genuine - they cant afford to take the risk of it not being
