Good for Kylie! Still not an amazing comeback though! I mean, Craig David got into the Top 10 pretty quickly, and his comeback wasn't even anticipated...

Kylie will be Top 5 by tonight, what with The Kylie Show coming up. I really hope Alicia can hold on though, because she deserves to be successful - and maybe even next week she could battle it out with Kylie and come out on top. :o

Spice Girls are going to start falling at this rate!

Kylie will be #2 at highest next week imo.

I bet the Spices won't rise until they're on Children In Need or maybe the release of the GH CD will help them more?

Is Alicia any closer to moving up at all?

I don't think so, Timbaland is still quite a bit ahead in popularity bars :(

They've fallen to the C list on Radio 1 playlists too! Still - I guess they'll move up a notch or two after CIN.

Oh yes, I keep forgetting about Children In Need! That'll help them SO much I'm sure, the amount of people that watch TV while on the computer, it'll have an instant effect

I know I shouldn't say this, but I'm going to anyway with half the kids who live round by us ... its more of children in need of a good smack!

I never even watch the show ... its full of forced humour ... and bad sketches ... mind you .... I'm a miserable sod ... I don't like Comic Relief either!

Errr they never were higher than the C-list

Do songs get added on itunes at Midnight tonight? Or is it just anytime during the day?
Errr they never were higher than the C-list

I could have sworn I saw them on the B list a week or so back (shoulda gone to specsavers) ... but I've just checked ... and you're absolutely right. Oh well ... they're bound to go up to A list soon and I'm sure they'll get to number one whether or not.

Norma

I don't think they'll even make the B-list to be honest, Radio 1 arent fond of it.

Does Radio 1 reserve the right to decide what is A, B or C? I mean ... I always assumed that if a song made number one, then surely Radio 1 would have to make it A List - but it seems that this is not necessarily the case.

Quite the reverse Radio 1 does what it ruddy well likes.

For example, Last Year Radio 1 famously refused to playlist at all Shakira ft Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie because she was in their words "not a contemporary enough song". Whilst they'll happily A-List emo rubbish by the likes of Fall Out Boy that does not get anywhere near the Top40.

Hilariously/annoyingly, last year they refused to playlist at all Amy Winehouse - Rehab because "the song is retro sounding". However, thanks to the support of Radio 2 it was their most played song of 2006 on the most listened to station in the UK and became a huge hit as a result. Yet Radio 1's 3rd most played song of 2006 was a dance remix of an old 1977 Leo Sayer (Thunder In My Heart) song!

In The Word magazine a few months ago, that magazine did a lengthy piece explaining how Radio 1 have frustrated the British Record Industry by not breaking new young British acts, only then Radio 2 to playlist these new acts and even make them Record of The Week and kick start their career. But once they became successful Radio 1 jumped/hijacked the bandwagon.

In the last 5 years the likes of Keane, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, The Feeling, Amy Winehouse, Scissor Sisters, Katie Melua, Norah Jones, Joss Stone, Natasha Beddingfield, Lucie Silvas, James Blunt, Corinne Bailey Rae, James Morrison, Kate Nash & Mika got the accolade of Record Of The Week on Radio 2 before Radio 1 touched them.

Many of the above acts are more Radio 1 friendly than Radio 2 friendly.

I know Q magazine did an article a few months ago about Radio 2 which virtually said it had become the new Radio 1 (well that's what I read between the lines anyway). Artists aren't as embarrassed to be connected to Radio 2 as perhaps they may have been years ago. I have to be honest though ... I've always preferred Radio 2 and in the mornings ... I'd rather have the witty Wogan talking between the songs, than the 'thinks he's witty' Chris Moyles - sorry I just cannot abide the bloke.
