POP star Jamelia was crowned Birmingham's most stylish celebrity at a glittering awards ceremony aimed at celebrating the city's fashion industry.

 

The singer was one of 12 winners named in the inaugural Style Awards, organised by Retail Birmingham in a bid to put the city on the shopping map.

 

Jamelia was unable to attend the awards bash yesterday at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, in New Street, but the audience was shown a pre-recorded message filmed at the city's Malmaison hotel.

 

"I'd like to thank everybody who voted for me," she said. "I'm very proud to be from Birmingham and I'm incredibly honoured that Birmingham is proud of me too."

 

 

Earlier the busy mother-of-two model and singer said: "My style is about being confident. I'm not a fan of impersonating anybody else. If you wear something and don't feel comfortable with it it will show."

 

 

Jamelia loves shopping in the Mailbox and Selfridges, but claims the real secret to staying radiant on a daily basis comes from within.

 

 

"If you are happy with your image on the inside, it will show on the outside," she said.

 

 

"Do not strive to be too thin or fashionable, confidence comes from the inside."

Shes right. ^_^
