well in one resepects its good that you have aligned Kate Nash and Jack Penate tho i wouldnt put them in a bubblegum pop section, however i suppose timewarner have to have a blancing act between commercial indie (oh the oxmoron!!!), the underground and the target market.

 

and jack is supposed to sound like the housemartins, and the housemartins are not too far away to the smiths, is that still indie or is it more about the crative people involved the music scene at the time rather than the sound, the assimilation into the mainstream, the copying of pop acts of that sound, middle ages rock critics and their predugists and pretension

 

for example kylie's new record may be a rip off of goldfrapp's excursion's into electronic glam rock, but willa klf, kraftwerk, david bowie thread work in the bubblegum pop section???. its not just about what the record sounds and if youve got 4 blokes with guitars like but other factors as well to what is independently minded and creative or what is not and what is cool, its all very flecible, all to do with demographics and pretension at the end of the day as most of these acts will be found in the rock and pop section of zavvi, with steps!!! apart from moloko which is in dance with moby.
