It's a good thing you know the Chicago show well, Meg and the others who are lucky enough to be going.

10 Roxies, 6 Velmas, 5 Billys. 4 Mamas and 3 Amoses {sounds like the twelve days of Christmas]... is

that in addition to the current artists? If they all perform a part of the show it could make it very difficult

to follow for someone who hasn't seen Chicago before! It will be very competitive too. It will be interesting

for you to see[or hear] how D.'s voice compares to the other Billys.

I counted Preston's list. Is there another Billy?

BILLY FLYNN Duncan James, Henry Goodman, Tony Hadley, Darius Danesh, Ian Kelsey, Terence Maynard. SEE still have these down as Billys.

Preston's list from WOS missed out Henry Goodman. I don't know which is right, WOS or SEE.

I cant see how they will all sing individually, so many of them and artistes for other parts, perhaps it will be a snatch or a joint effort.
Henry Goodman was on the WOS list but he was in a group with Ute Lemper and others. Were they perhaps the original London cast of Chicago?

Do you think it will be a normal performance, then the past artists called on stage one by one, possibly with a

group song for all the Billys, one for the Roxies, one for the Velmas etc.

If each played a small portion of the show it would call for far too many days rehearsal. And, knowing the

size of these guys' egos, there would be too much squabbling for the 'best' parts. Someone would be

bound to walk out in a huff. Individual performances, side by side, could be very enlightening as to the

individual's strength, tone and clarity of voice, which is why the weaker ones in this area are going to be very

loath to participate on those terms. Some are stronger in stage technique and personality.......they all have

their individual strengths and weaknesses. Which is why I think it will be a corporate effort. And which is

why I think it will be a most entertaining and interesting evening.

Why would they need great long rehearsals? They've all played their roles for at least 2 months so they know the cues for their character and the entrance and exits they have to use for each scene.

Of the Billies, Darius, Henry Goodman and Terence Maynard have all played Billy on different occasions, so they're used to playing opposite various Velmas, Roxies, Mamas, Amoses and Marys. I expect the same is true of the majority of the others.

Rehearsals would surely depend on the length of the time gap since they last played Billy, and on how many other things

they had done since [films, shows etc] to fog their memory and also on the complexity of the part of the show they were assigned to play.

For instance, the puppet scene is more difficult than a straight song. Even when a show is in full flow rehearsals are often called to fine-tune it. When people are paying £500 for a seat they have the right to expect a smooth-flowing show with

no hiccups.

Re the time gap since playing Billy, Henry Goodman played the part in 1997, since when he went back to playing

Shakespeare with the R.S.C.........he won the Olivier Award as Shylock in the Merchant of Venice in 1999.

Lorraine Kelly said they would be talking about the Chicago's 10th anniversary tomorrow.

Denise Van Outen was just on 'This Morning' - she was obviously there more to promote 'Rent', but Fern mentioned Chicago's 10th Anniversary and asked who was going to be appearing!! :D (Good old Fern - I wonder if she hoped to hear D mentioned!! )

However, Denise only mentioned female cast members - she seemed to think that all tickets would have now sold out and she has been rehearsing for the past two weeks. I wonder if that means that D will now be back in this country and rehearsing!

Hopefully the male cast taking part will get a mention on Lorraine's show tomorrow - I will try to remember to watch!! :D

The tickets have been reduced - I wish I'd waited.

I think they were being a bit optimistic with £350 and £500 tickets!!! When I rang last week I was hoping that they might be selling the £350 tickets cheaper but no such luck!! I shall be really upset if people who book late get the chance to buy good tickets for a cheaper price!!! I think we will ask when we get there if there is any chance of an upgrade for a bit more money - there's no harm in trying is there!!! :D

(The tickets still haven't arrived so I don't really feel like I'm going yet!!! - I hope they come tomorrow or else I will start to worry! )

Darius was still in LA late Tuesday so if he's here, he must just have arrived and won't have had any time to rehearse.

All of the Billies have either played the part very recently e.g Duncan and Tony or have played him several times Henry, Darius, Terence and Ian Kelsey who reprised the role in the touring production not that long ago.
