Posted November 15, 200717 yr X Factor Leona hits back at Jamelia Former X Factor winner Leona Lewis has blasted back at criticisms by R&B singer Jamelia, who called Leona a 'poor man's Mariah Carey'. Jamelia told the press that Leona would fade into the background like many of the X Factor winners. 'When Simon (Cowell) stops all this stupid hype about her, that's when we'll see if she can deliver. Like every artist Simon has, she'll fade into obscurity eventually.' Jamelia reportedly said. The Brum soul diva added. 'Only Will Young has been successful, and that was because he's talented and cut ties with Simon. Leona is a poor man's Mariah Carey. Simon's lost it. He is disrespectful. Leona may be talented, but she's not worked as hard as me or others in the industry - fact!' Speaking to the Voice, Leona described how she found the comments upsetting: "It was quite hurtful. At the end of the day as female artists we should be supportive towards each other," However, Leona is not taking Jamelia's comments to heart: "I try not to read a lot of things that are going on." Focused Leona says she is instead focusing on her music career. Since winning the X Factor last year, Leona has been busy recording her debut album in America as well as signing a whopping £5 million pound record deal with J Records label boss Clive Davis. This is in addition to the £1 million recording contract she won on the X Factor: With a new album Spirit, out this week, it's been a hectic year for the young star. "I went on the X Factor tour, I did a big showcase for Clive Davis who is famous for launching Whitney Houston and he also work with Alicia Keys. Then I did a lot of songwriting, recorded loads of stuff all over the States," she said. The hard work has paid off. Leona recently scored a massive number one with her second single 'Bleeding love' which is the highest selling single of this year so far. "It's amazing. I took a bit of time out, so it was nerve racking but I was so excited and proud of it and for it to be embraced the way it has been, I'm really thankful about that," she said. Despite her hectic life, Leona is still happy with her childhood sweetheart, 23-year-old, Lou Al-Chamaa. "Everything is kind of exactly the same, it's just that I'm a bit more well known now. We been together for a long time so I hope we have a long future ahead." she said. Leona also told The Voice of her future plans: "The music is the main focus at the moment and it's my passion and that's what I love to do but like other people I have other goals. I'm a vegetarian so I would love to do an accessories range or clothes range something that isn't harmful to animals, I have a lot of different dreams and ambitions,' she said. SOURCE
November 15, 200717 yr Jamelia has an ongoing 10 year career under her belt. Anyway, Jamelia didn't say f*ck all about Leona Lewis in the first place...on BOTH occasions. Some "journalist" asked Jamelia what she thought of Leona, to which Jamelia said she thinks she's incredible, will definetley have a huge career and will be buying Leona's music. The journalist didn't like Jamelia's answer, so she totally ignored Jamelia's praises on Leona and made up the quotes saying Leona was a "poor man's Mariah Carey", etc. Jamelia posted on her forum and mentioned in interviews how it was a lie, and that when she asked the "journalist" to produce the evidence of Jamelia saying these things, the "journalist" was nowhere in sight. This isn't the first time the press have made up quotes from Jamelia slating people, I doubt it will be the last. But seriously, don't go believing everything you read in the press. They're idiots.
November 15, 200717 yr Here is Jamelia's post on the forum: Dear Fans, I have felt compelled to come on here and let you guys know the truth. As you all should know, I am an extremely outspoken individual and will say it like it is. But one thing you should know for sure is that I'm not unnecessarily bitchy. Yes, I say things that are close to the bone, but I never have or will say disgusting things about people without just cause. Which brings me on to a recent "interview" I had with 'The Poor Man's Eva Simpson' - Dominique Hines of the Star Magazine. In the interview, I was asked a series of ill thought out questions, most of which were to lure me into saying headline making comments about other celebs. Yes, to some of those questions I made some bitchy comments - none of which were about Leona Lewis. This 'journalist' wasn't happy with me being nice about Leona, so she had to make **** up so her piece was more interesting & so it could then be regurgitated in the tabloids as gospel. Well I was going to sit back and do nothing, but she did the same thing to me the last time and I'm not standing for it. Certain people in the media find it hard to write a nice, positive story. Certain people are not content with artists showing each other love and appreciation. Some people are afraid that an artist thinks it's okay to co-exist in the music industry. Some people are only happy when cross words are fired. Well **** it, it's so not gonna happen. The facts are, I think Leona is amazingly talented. I don't understand why she didn't have a record deal already. I think Simon made the right choice and I don't think I even have to say it, but it's obvious she will be enjoying success for years to come and i will be buying all of her material! I don't dislike her. In all honesty I don't even know her, but iI do know talent when i see it. This is not a retraction of any statement. This is what was not printed. What WAS printed is also known as bullsh*t. Its amazing how it's so easy for some journalists to just make **** up. This girl just invented so many "quotes". We've asked her to produce the tape & now she's vanished off the face of the earth - go figure! usually I leave it and don't react, but it really p*sses me off. They're pathetic. Not all of them, but some. Yes, I'm very angry and I apologise to my fans for my language. But sometimes, you just gotta get dirty! Hope you're all doing well. Love to you all. I'll speak with you soon x x x x x x kisses x x x x J x x x x x x

But she does say things, she has given her self a reputation. She may not have said anything in this case But, its her own fault that people believe things even if they aint true
November 16, 200717 yr It's partly her fault for not being one of those groomed celebrities, who are told what to say, & having her own opinion in the media, but that doesn't mean the media can just fabricate quotes from Jamelia slagging people off - even if she does have a bit of a reputation (which is still rather an unfair reputation seeing as it isn't half as bad as it's made out to be). November 16, 200717 yr This was months ago though wasnt it? There was an occasion last year where the same journalist made up quotes from Jamelia slagging Leona off, and then the journalist did it again about 8 weeks ago saying Jamelia called Leona a "poor man's Mariah Carey" and all that stuff.
November 16, 200717 yr Author There are cases of false information, and in this case it seems true. I believe that Jamelia wouldn't say any of those things, especially with the surrounding Leona has.
