Posted November 16, 200717 yr The second single from Annie Lennox's brilliant album Songs Of Mass Destruction that will be released digitally on December 1st & physically on December 3rd. It will serve as the official charity theme for World AIDS Day and will raise awareness for the HIV/AIDS organization Treatment Action Campaign.. This track features 23 of the most prominent female artists in the music industry today. The full roster consists of: Anastacia, Isobel Campbell, Dido, Céline Dion, Melissa Etheridge, Fergie, Beth Gibbons, Faith Hill, Angelique Kidjo, Beverley Knight, Gladys Knight, k.d. lang, Madonna, Sarah McLachlan, Beth Orton, Pink, Bonnie Raitt, Shakira, Shingai Shoniwa, Joss Stone, Sugababes, KT Tunstall, and Martha Wainwright.   The official video which doesn't feature any of the female artists listed. http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-gb&...7b-13a168da9e1b I quite enjoy it! Great video, and a great song as well even though the Dean Coleman remix is miles better than the original! My favorite bits in the song are Madonna's verses.  This anthem is still only B-Listed on Radio 2's playlist but I'm hoping some upcoming promo will help this track land top 5 just where it deserves & helps save the amazing Songs Of Mass Destruction album. :D :D I want it to reach #1 but realistically: #4. : -_- Edited November 16, 200717 yr by Drastic Cynosure
November 16, 200717 yr Hopefully 75+ Her last single made UK#58. But "Sing" is horrible. It is in stark contrast to the brilliant recent musical efforts by her one time 1980s rivals Kate Bush & Alison Moyet.
November 16, 200717 yr I don't think it'll get Top 20. As there's no option for that though, I've voted Top 20.
November 16, 200717 yr Author I don't think it'll get Top 20. As there's no option for that though, I've voted Top 20. I really don't think this'll do that bad - this atleast had more promotion than Madonna's Hey You!
November 16, 200717 yr I think it's a toe-curlingly awful song.... as is the rest of Annie's album - whatever happened to the lady who gave us Savage and In The Garden? Hearing her singing live these days is truly painful - her voice really has gone. parts of Dark Road were ear-splitting. Sing is hideous.... but, due to it including monstrosities like Celine Dion, Dido and Shakira, it'll probably go top 30. As thisispop says - when Alison Moyet is releasing her best ever material and sounding better than ever - it's such a shame the other 80's 'voice' Annie has disappeared up her own peace-and-goodwill backside, releasing increasingly bland and self-indulgent dirges.
November 16, 200717 yr It's so bad. I was so very disappointed with her new album tbh. She is one of my all time favourite artists and yes I get the song is for a good cause but that's no excuse to unleash Fergie, Shakira and others upon us on another record. I think it'll go top 40. #35ish.
November 16, 200717 yr I listened to this awhile ago, she's trying to pull out some sort of 'Female-Anthem', and it dosn't work.

You are so right. To think 20 years ago Annie was making stunning, fantastic, deeply moving music like this: R919gmveTR8 Eurythmics - Savage (1987) It is enough to make you almost cry, to see how her once wonderful vocal & songwriting talent has wasted away to come up with such drivel like Sing, that it would probably not be good enough for a Leona Lewis album.

Nope, it's ALL about 'Right By Your Side' for me!!
November 17, 200717 yr She really needs to get back with David Stewart... they've already tried that - their comeback 'Peace' album was... rubbish. :(
November 17, 200717 yr With all those artists on there it looks like it would be a good song, but it's pretty much Annie Lennox feat. Madonna with some enthusiastic backing singers. I'd rather this was like a Band Aid song where each artist gets to sing a line of the song or something. The only other voices I could pick out, on first listen, were Joss Stone and Anastacia.
November 17, 200717 yr Top 40 at best. Even with the likes of Madonna and Pink onboard, Annie Lennox just doesn't sell singles anymore. Has she even hit the top 40 in the past decade (not including the odd Eurythmics comeback)? It's a shame, she's kind of a national treasure. I loved Diva, and Bare wasn't as awful as has been claimed.
