Are there any more Top20 (minimum Top10) Predictions to come?

Otherwise I will close the voting & post the results over the weekend.

Blimey-Charlie - so this is what all the fuss was about eh? :D

I can see it's all done and dusted now really - but having read it, I've got to reply to some of the assumptions that have been made from my own point of view :)

not at all - as I said - blind tunnel-vision fans will vote 20 points to their 'idol' nevermind if the song is unadulterated rubbish. The fact there's other songs on the list is irrelevant to them.

And THAT's what makes these polls irrelevant - and an unfair reflection of what people's tastes REALLY are.

You're all Darius fans, out on this thread to vote vote vote to ensure he gets in the top 10/top 5/number 1, not because any of you genuinely believe his song is the best on the list.

And that's shallow, dull and ridiculous.

If Darius gets more points than other songs than he deserves to be higher than those songs. In this system, that's what's fair. This is a contest based on points.

I don't mind 'Colourblind' - and I'd rather listen to it than 'The Drugs Don't Work' - but there are maybe 30 songs on that list I prefer to 'Colourblind'

But I'm just not sure it's one of the most popular songs of the decade on this forum. It will only feature on the Darius fans chart where it will get 20 points.

My only question - and I'm not trying to argue with you - is this.

Did you - or any of the other Darius fans - already decide to give that song 20 points before you looked at the shortlist?

The short answer to that in my case is No :)

I knew it would be in there somewhere when 'thisispop' posted in the Darius forum that this poll was underway, I'd already pasted the complete list of songs into a notepad and was half way through rearranging them into the order of which ones I personally liked the best. The suggestion that the other songs on the list would be irrelevant to me, particularly gets my goat, because I even took the trouble to seek out and listen to some of the tracks again, to jog my memory of them and make sure I wasn't doing anything a disservice and re-arranged them a few times accordingly. Even one's I couldn't remember/don't own, I at least checked out a sample on iTunes to jog my memory. I posted that I actually found this particular poll really difficult, as I liked more than the 20 songs allowed.

I don't happen to expect a Darius fan to appreciate music like the Verve to be honest.... ahem

Well, this was my list - with the space between 20 and 19pts being deliberate.

20pts - Verve - The Drugs Don't Work

19 - Daniel Bedingfield – If You’re Not The One

18 - Darius – Colourblind

17 - Robbie Williams - Feel

16 - Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

15 - Pink – Just Like A Pill

14 - No Doubt - Don't Speak

13 - Sugababes – Freak Like Me

12 - Oasis - Don’t Look Back In Anger

11 - Fugees - Killing Me Softly

10 - Christina Aguilera – Beautiful

9 - Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony

8 - Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You Out Of My Head

7 - Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

6 - Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?

5 - Green Day - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

4 - Killers - Somebody Told Me

3 - Shakira – Whenever Wherever

2 - Eminem ft. Dido - Stan

1 - Coldplay - Yellow

I happen to really like The Verve/Richard Ashcroft - so, it just goes to show how wrong assumptions can be sometimes doesn't it.

Yeah, well, I wouldn't expect a Darius fan to understand the subtleties of Radiohead anyway.... -_-

Off you pop back to your spoon-fed, manufactured drivel.....

You obviously didn't listen to them in the right frame of mind, you just went and "listened" out of some petty, half-arsed attempt to try and start some sort of argument just because I blithely mentioned Radiohead in a previous post; I could've easily picked Napalm Death or the Bonzo Dog Doodah band out of the air as well and you'd still probably try and make an argument out of it......

Go and actually listen to the tracks without having some sort of pathetic, petty point-scoring agenda in mind.......

I quite like some of Radiohead's stuff too as it happens; and if you think that Darius's music is spoon-fed manufactured drivel, then I suggest that maybe you're doing the same thing - i.e. probably not really listening with a fair and open mind to his material properly. It may not be to your liking, but I'm pretty sure from what you've said, that you actually know very little about Darius's music really.

I think you could say this tunnel-vision hits both ways. The same happens in reverse if some posters don't like an artist. Whether they like the song or not they won't give it votes because of who sang it.

And I'm not referring to Darius here. :)

I think you've got a very valid point there too - and I think it does apply to Darius, his songs, this situation, for some people - it does seems to work both ways though, so probably overall, it will cancel itself out anyway, but I'd guess it works against, rather than for Darius overall - whatever song of his happens to be in whatever poll. I think generally people should try to be a bit more accepting of diversity of opinions about music and particular songs, then maybe things like this would balance out in a logical and fair way, if it's not already doing anyway :)
