January 4, 200817 yr Alison Goldfrapp is the most stylish woman in music bar none, I think.... and the photoshoot she's done for this album is magnificent... truly stunning. Currently it's a case of where she leads, others will follow (including 'big' names like Madonna and Kylie). But.... this looks a little straightforward for a Goldfrapp cover, I reckon... it's an iconic, beautiful image... but there's something kinda missing. Here's some other shots and an interesting interview with the band about their radical change of direction... http://www.iheartberlin.de/2007/12/18/accidents-emergency/ I'm loving this album more and more... almost as much as Felt Mountain.
January 4, 200817 yr Alison Goldfrapp & Roisin Murphy could easily be mistaken for sisters given the photoshoots for both Seventh Tree & Overpowered.
January 5, 200817 yr I have only just heard this for the first time and - oh my god - just beautiful. Very surprised also as I really think this will broaden their appeal all the more (whether 50-something Radio 2 listeners is a good thing is purely subjective, but I say fair play). Really just cannot wait for the album it's out on the 28th Feb. And anyone not got round to hearing the new single... http://www.myspace.com/goldfrapp
January 5, 200817 yr Amazing album cover; all that lets it down, like the A&E cover, is the horrid font used for the title.
January 6, 200817 yr I reckon, like all the best music, A&E takes a few listens... you need to live with it for a while. It's gorgeous, but, like the rest of Seventh Tree, it's not immediate.
January 6, 200817 yr A&E - After three albums of increasing record sales with decreasing quality of music, it sounds from this track as if they have given up any pretention of making ground breaking music and want a massive big hit single & multi-platinum album with this very commercial (in a Kate Bush singing a James Bond theme sort of way) track.
January 6, 200817 yr Commercial? Are we hearing the same track? A&E is anything but commercial - and the album is as far away from commercial as possible. In fact, there's not a single commercial track on the whole thing - least of all this single. If you want poppy, commercial and underwhelming Goldfrapp, check the last album...especially the ghastly Number One. Seventh Tree is a triumphant return to form by a band who continue to set trends - not follow them and who refuse to toe any company lines. To be bold and brave enough to ditch the multi-selling glitterball pomp-stomp of Supernature (after everyone and their dog copied them) and to go completely back to basics, back to real songs, real lyrics and real emotion - I applaud them. And in this increasingly stale and processed pop climate - thank God for a band like Goldfrapp. As for the Bush reference - Alison Goldfrapp has never made any secret of her Kate Bush obsession - and the other tracks on the album sound like a wonderful morphing of Kate Bush and Cocteau Twin Elizabeth Fraser - yet managing to sound completely like Goldfrapp. Edited January 6, 200817 yr by russt68
January 6, 200817 yr Number One is my favourite Goldfrapp song by far. Closely followed by Ride A White Horse, Fly Me Away, and now A&E. I quite like a couple of the earlier singles, especially Strict Machine, but know of nothing from Felt Mountain. Caravan Girl is very good (on Seventh Tree). It needs to be the second single.
January 6, 200817 yr for drippingly-gorgeous James Bond-style class - here's some tracks from Felt Mountain... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDiLArvJj5g Human http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydNbuB6PLiU...feature=related Pilots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtX4bV31b1c Lovely Head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgDKQVjCDjQ Utopia

I think 'Fly Me Away' was by far the worst track from the last album, I simply cannot bear to listen to that piece of trash. After one listen 'A+E' didn't make a major impression on me but I'll persevere with it.
January 6, 200817 yr It's a stunning album, definitely their best. For me Clowns, Road to Nowhere and A+E are among their best tracks to date. Love the cover, captures the mystique and beauty of the record.
January 6, 200817 yr "And in this increasingly stale and processed pop climate - thank God for a band like Goldfrapp." Couldn't have put it better myself. Personally, the people on this board can keep their Cascada, their Leon Jackson/Leona Lewis and their contrived chart rubbish, this is REAL music. Edited January 6, 200817 yr by Amidar

If you think it is brave to dig out your record collection of U2, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Keane, Jeff Buckley & A-Ha albums then you have a different definition of brave then I have. It has clearly been "inspired" by U2's Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own meets Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars, if it does not go Top 5 and become their biggest hit of their career by some distance then I will be amazed. Still I look forward to hearing them next week (I think it's Wednesday) on Radio 2's 8PM - 10PM Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie show.

Maybe not Virgin as much - its always strikes me as a bit t*ts out for the lads radio and dadrock for people in white vans, but yeah i guess Radio 2 will be interested.
