yeah, Missy Higgins is quite safe...I probably won't go with her to be honest as it would be quite boring for me to send a similar song again...

I can't see myself picking Tristan and Jason as it takes too long to grow, and again it's quite similar

Aurora and West End Girls are quite risky...I also heard another song today which i was considering but this would be a huge risk as it's partly a rap song, although it's quite charming and I just adore the melody in the chorus...I wonder what people think of this one (it's from Norway again by the way!):

Multicyde - Not For The Dough

but BJSC8 is definitely the time for FSR Rontvia to take a risk, I guess the last real risk I took was Andreas Johnson in BJSC3...since then I've sent female pop songs

and as I qualify directly for the final, my song won't be heard in the semis, so needs to be really instant to stand out above the favourites that people will already have...nothing quite stands out like this track :heehee:

Well I think this is the ideal time to take a risk. You've managed 5 top ten finishes in a row, you finished top 3 and are hosting it this time! So a poor result wouldn't be that hard a blow if you knew you'd hosted a good show and done something different for your entry would it?

yeah, I'd be happier if I got a good result with one of the risks than with one of the safe songs...

Aurora is bordering on risk/safe

Missy is definitely safe, although her accent could put some people off

the other two are quite risky...some may see the West End Girls song as an injsutice to the PSB original...I personally think it's a very good version of the track

with a week to go until the official confirmation thread for BJSC8 opens, the Rontvian TV network have announced that two of the songs have been knocked out of contention as Rontvia's 8th contest entry. West End Girls and Missy Higgins are now available for other countries to select, here are the two songs that the internal Rontvian jury have chosen for the final two. One of these songs will be selected very soon and will aim to be the 6th straight top ten finish for FSR Rontvia, BJSC's 2nd most successful country to date, behind Mdice:

1. Multicyde - Not For The Dough

2. Aurora - The Day It Rained Forever

having chosen 'safe' entries for a number of contests in a row (i.e. female pop songs), Rontvia has decided to take a risk this time around...British dance act Aurora's The Day It Rained Forever is a folk-pop-trance hybrid, while Norwegian trio Mylticyde's Not For The Dough is a pop-rap crossover...

I'm stumped...I wish I could send both...I've listened to both tracks about 20 times in the last couple of days to try and decide which to send...

they are both extremely different to anything else I've ever sent, yet also completely different to each other

winning with a landslide 78% of the Rontese vote, Multicyde have won the chance to represent FSR Rontvia in BJSC VIII with their single 'Not For The Dough'

Multicyde are a pop/r&b trio from Norway and this single was produced by Stargate

they are the second successive Norwegian act to represent FSR Rontvia, following Maria and Mira in BJSC VII. Along with Mdice and MKL, FSR Rontvia, and Multicyde, are directly qualified for the final

this is seen as a risky entry for FSR Rontvia who are aiming for their 6th successive top ten finish...their current five consecutive finishes is a BJSC record

the head of the Rontvian TV network said 'we are confident that Multicyde can do well for FSR Rontvia. We have sent similar songs in the past, many from solo females, so sending a pop/rap song is a risk for the country but it has an adorable melody that people will find hard to resist'

you can watch the video above ^^^

Meh.

I'm not fussed on it to be honest.

But well done for trying something different.

Multicyde's Not For The Dough has been sensationally dropped for the host nation FSR Rontvia after it was revealed that the national final votes were tampered with...and in fact it was not able to confirm whether Aurora or Multicyde won. In light of this decision, FSR Rontvia has decided to scrap the national finals and go back to internally selecting their entry for the duration of the future of the contest. FSR Rontvia has internally selected the majority of it's entries and despite an outcry from the public over the result, a different act and song has been chosen to represent the host nation in BJSC8.

Not For The Dough had not been very successful in the charts in FSR Rontvia, climbing only to No.38 so far, while supposedly 2nd placed Aurora had reached No.24...

still wishing to take a risk with an unknown aritst, song and different genre than usual, FSR Rontvia has internally selected 'Driving' by electronic-dance act Thermostatic to represent them at the 8th contest on July 22nd. The video can be seen here:

LOL

I love hearing the stories people come up with when they dramatically change their minds halfway through a contest

Actually that said, I much prefer this song. Nice choice.

the real non made up reason is because I have gone off the Multicyde song recently and don't want to enter a song I don't like at the time of the contest

I only heard Thermostatic yesterday and it instantly struck a chord with me, I didn't want to wait until BJSC9 to enter it...it's a little bit Kleerup sounding but the chorus is absolutely amazing (to me anyway :P)

glad you like the new song, at least it's still a risk and still Scandinavian :w00t: back to Sweden again this time for my entry

Oh yeah I didn't notice the Swedish connection again

so far then I've sent

1 - Delta Goodrem - Australia

2 - Natasha Bedingfield - UK/NZ

3 - Andreas Johnson - Sweden

4 - Sara Bareilles - US

5 - Sibel - Sweden

6 - Untouched - UK

7 - Maria and Mira - Norway

8 - Thermostatic - Sweden

so the third Swede, but as I said before Peter, 40% of the Rontvian population are Swedish so 40% of my entries being Swedish is proportionally accurate :heehee:

FSR Rontvia has selected its entry for BJSC9 already, no more messing about with semi-finals etc...it will be:

Sanna Nielsen - Nobody Without You

Sanna Nielsen  Excusing rock acts, I don't think there are many big Swedish acts that haven't done Melodifestivalen  Roxette? Ace of Base? I know Robyn hasn't done it but she has done songwriting for it...

 there are still plenty more to come

it was between Sanna Nielsen and Ola for my entry this time around, but I plumped for Sanna as Nobody Without You is one of my favourite tracks at the moment
