...did anyone watch this ITV 2-part drama on Sunday and Monday night?

Astonishing.... Maxine Peake (Shameless, Dinnerladies) was chillingly brilliant as Myra Hindley, Britain's most hated woman. Surely a BAFTA nomination (at least) for her next year.

I read the book the drama was based on, and what makes the book such gripping reading is the realisation that Hindley and Brady were actually human at all. The book follows their lives away from their murder spree, shows that they were like any other couple living in the mid 60's, did the same things, watched the same films, listened to the same music. It humanises them, which, when reading the horrific accounts of the actual murders, is a difficult achievement.

The TV drama captured this perfectly - there was no film of any of the actual murders. It centred on the relationship between the pair, and Hindley's family. The affect the murders had on them as well as the gruesome twosome.

It was based on the book of the same name, but also on 3 years' research with the detectives on the case, the families of the victims and David Smith himsewlf, the guy who eventually brought the pair to justice by going to the police.

UK TV drama at its very best - and what a superb performance from Peake.

Yeah, it was brilliant. All of the actors were great in this and gave such great performances. It was a really good perspective of the case, but still just as shocking and harrowing.

I watched it, I thought it was a very well expressed piece, good direction, I like that.

I thought this was about the new horror film coming out soon by the same title. :P

me too! lol.

I watched both parts. It was really interesting and the acting was very good. Such a shame they never found Keith Bennet though. That made me sad at the end seeing the 5 they killed and their faces on screen.
