...I've read David Walliams and Matt Lucas are in the US right now.... overseeing the US version of Little Britain. BUT... neither of them are actually in it?!

I really hate how things are 're-made' for American audiences - the American The Office was awful, the US Queer as Folk was abysmal compared to the original Brit series...in fact, I've yet to see a US remake that's a patch of the UK original.

We don't demand things made in America are re-made for us - why do they? I mean, I find a lot of American sitcoms hard to understand - the slang and accents are unfathomable at times..... but we persevere and 'get' them eventually (even if I find Brit comedy far funnier and mainly more clever).

Little Britain IS the performances by Walliams and Lucas - how can they even think of remaking the series without them? Terrible idea....

im not keen on lit brit, but i fully agree with you. archie bunker was americas answer to 'till death us do part'...it failed because america didnt understand british humour, which was and still is, light years in front. however i do like americas ability for satire... 'batman' the tv seriese was utterly hilarious, so was the lesley neilson 'airplane' and 'police squad' creations.

tbh...i hate american women.... well those portrayed on the tv anyway! i hate there harsh voices... :puke2:

I love Little Britain

Strange they are not in the US version though! (well maybe not as they are English)

I have to agree, the US version of The Office is complete c**p, and they'd have to retitle the show "Little US" I suppose wouldn't they...? I'm not a big fan of LB these days, but I still think even at its worst, it would still beat an American retread....

And a lot of US TV game shows were remade for the UK - The Price Is Right, Family Fortunes, Sale of the Century, Wheel of Fortune are a few that spring to mind, also "Brighton Belles" was a lousy remake of "Golden Girls".....

You can watch a few sketches here, and it looks reasonably funny, but obviously now we're sort of tiring of it. If you hadn't seen it before though, you'd probably find it just as amusing as series one in the UK.
Yeahh, i've seen the previews and they're funny enough, but i've seen it all before. This is on HBO in America though, so maybe it might do well in the ratings, as it's more of a mature audience on the whole that HBO broadcasts too. I think it might get good ratings tbh.

The astronaut sketch doesn't seem that good

Although the Vicky Pollard ones could turn out to be really funny in the camp as for Lou & Andy tbh I laugh at them everytime.

None look particularly great, it started to get old at the third series.

Did anyone else catch this last night? I honestly thought they were some of the worst sketches ever seen in Little Britain. Wtf at the Astronaut thing and the sketch where the dog told the woman to take her clothes off. The only one remotely funny was the Carol Beer sketch at the start.

and Lucas and walliams said there would be no more LB, scraping the barrel

ps the show is too short (25 mins) and the credits drag on........

Quality TV RIP

I watched it and it was just awful. I did not laugh once. No wonder the American's absolutely panned the show.

It really is incredible how they have lost it because Series 1 & 2 were inspired and very funny, but Series 3 was incredibly crude, rude and now this was just tasteless and totally unfunny.

I think they really need to go back to what made them comedy cult legends in the first place and revive their legendary BBC3 Rock Profiles (which almost single handedly destroyed Gary Barlow career/reputation), and their portrayal of The Bee Gees has just stuck, especially with all the new pop star targets they could pay their surreal homages to in the 21st Century.

Blur Rock Profile (This is just laugh out loud funny especially the new song performed in the last two minutes)

Gary Barlow Rock Profile

Kylie & Dannii Minogue Rock Profile (note this was done in 1999 after Kylie had been dropped by BMG and was down the dumper before her spectacular comeback)

Ah...that curious, strangley British tradition of knocking something that's obviously at the pinnacle of its greatness.

I can only assume all of you were watching a totally different show to me, then, as, apart from the toe-curling astronaut sketch and the naff old-woman-and-dog sketch, it was pure brilliance.

The Rosie O'Donnell Fat Fighters sketch was easily one of the funniest LB sketches of all time.... Carol Beer was, as always, fantastic...and the beautifully observed old married couple was genius.

I wouldn't think US audiences would get Little Britain for one minute - the humour is way, way too smart for the American viewers who, unless laughs are served on a plate with dollops of canned laughter, simply don't seem to get where the jokes are (you only have to watch painfully unfunny US 'comedy' like Friends, Will and Grace and 99% of the rest of their output to realise this).

Comedy seems to belong to the UK and Australia these days.... and Little Britain USA was tremendous - although I fully expected the drubbing it got here.

Oh come off it they have lost it big time. How can you possibly compare last nights hideously unfunny episode with some of the many classic material they were coming up with in Series 1 & 2 of Little Britain is beyond me?

That 30 minutes last night was the TV equivalent of listening to a new album by one of your favourite acts who's last album was a let down compared to their first two with the sinking realisation that they have lost it perhaps for good, due to degrees of diminishing returns and the fact they've used up their best ideas in the first two Series.

I'm sorry but how are these funny:

Little Britain USA - Dinner - Episode 1

Little Britain USA - I Love You More - Episode 1

Little Britain USA - Boner Sheriff - Episode 1

Compared to.......

Little Britain - Vicky gets a visit from the social worker

Little Britain - Lou & Andy at the Swimming Pool

Little Britain - Anne on Stars In Their Eyes

In near identical circumstances to why the 3rd Series of the Catherine Tate Show was largely unfunny compared to the first two series due to Ruth Jones and James Corden not writing a lot of the sketches as they had a certain comedy show called Gavin & Stacey in the pipeline, or when Paul Whitehouse & Charlie Higson stopped writing for Harry Enfield because they were working on The Fast Show; So obviously losing Rob Bryden who was Script Editor and writer of some of the material for Series 1 & 2 has hurt them very badly along with losing legendary comedy Producer Jon Plowman (French & Saunders, Smith & Jones, Absolutely Fabulous, Vicar Of Dibley, Goodness Gracious Me, Gimme Gimme Gimme, The League of Gentlemen & The Office) after Series 1 (to work on the biannual Comic Relief Specials (funny how the Little Britain 2005 Comic Relief skits which Jon Plowman produced were a vast improvement on the 3rd series or the subsequent Little Britain Abroad specials), the Vicar of Dibley & To The Manor Born Specials and Extras) has hurt the show in terms of quality.

To say Little Britain USA is good as their first series is like saying the 4th Oasis album Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants is as good as Definitely Maybe.
