Someone I know met her at a houseparty once, and described her as "the biggest cow he had ever met".

........ i bet we havnt heard the last of her.... footballers wife or summut.. and i bet she ruins her natural good looks with plastic surgery and too much make-up.

Lilly Allen part two.........

Lily Allen has launched an attack on the Pussycat Dolls - accusing the stars of being bad role models.

The singer, whose debut single Smile was released this week, describes the message that the group sends out as "hideous".

"I've got a really big problem with the Pussycat Dolls, because I think they're a really bad role model for little girls," Lily told the Daily Star. "They're too skinny, take all their clothes off, don't say anything, promote womanising and look like lapdancers as far as I'm concerned.

"It's a really bad message to be sending young women. And not just for young women - but for young men. For them to believe that that's what women are like in real life is such a hideous concept to sell to people. It's just terrible.

I wasn't aware that the PCD's were marketed at little girls, I'm assuming they're aimed at 12 yr old males and upwards.

its not so much a case of agreeing with this as taking it on board as a pretty accurate statement wether or not you are/were a steps/sclub fan. as ever their 'fans' leap to their stars aid without seemingly understanding this point of veiw, which is, like it or not, accurate.

From where I'm sitting it looks as if you are the one leaping to make judgements without any understanding. The point is that branding groups like S Club and Steps as cr*p is boring and about as uncreative as you can be when it comes to being seen as defiant or whatever it was her marketing team were thinking at the time.

Your statement was that anyone who doesn't agree that Lily was right about S Club and Steps don't think for themselves. You said S Club and Steps fans are all sheep who just like what they are told to like. That can't be any worse than hating who you are told to hate? By all means, dislike S Club and Steps, but to refuse to acknowledge that anyone might genuinely like them for what they did, and not because they were told to like them, is the best example of someone not stopping to think I've seen on this site for some time.

Argh how can anyone like Lily Allen's song anyway?

it doesnt take much brainpower to work out that groups cited by lily allen were a damn site better both musically and creatively then steps/s club etc... the point being that the latter were a manufactured acts aimed solely at the kids. of course people liked them for what they were but how many of the fans of manufactured acts have actually heard 'proper' pop?..

what happend here is that these 'fans' jumped down lilys throat when id wager that they havnt even heard t.rex or whoever! like... lily is wrong because we like steps! ....lol..

yeah... we, thats WE are being told what to like, people older then me dictate what the latest fashion in music will be, not you, the young. pre-watermans lot pop was youth lead, we told them what we wanted.... now its gurus like waterman, cowell, fuller etc who tell us what we have on offer.

and i can be a grumpy condescending old git... I AM! its my job! :P

yep!..... these disposable pop acts do nothing for music. :)

im not totally against 'party pop', there was easy listening pop even in the beloved 60's, id suggest that manfred manns later material, or all of hermans hermits have also done nothing for music and are as bland as steps etc. its the ratio though of 'party pop'.

Rob didn't you really like S Club 8? :o

Maybe when she learns to spell, I may take her inane ramblings more seriously.... -_-

So glad someone else thought that!

Rob didn't you really like S Club 8? :o

im not totally against no-brainer three minute pop, again ive already stated that its the proportion, the ratio, in comparison to real music. i think it was terribly unhealthy when the charts were overun with watermanesque trip... and record sales support this.

what concerns me most (as someone who has witnessed first hand 40 years of fashions, trends, styles that have made us the world leaders) is that so many of the young accept this drivel and dont strive to leave their own unique mark on pop music. just how will the 'post girl power' (the last ten years) generation be remembered?...

she's worse than charlotte,at least charlotte was around a while before she started, lily the silly cow has just started outand already has had a pop at lods of celebs but in book has gone a step to far slating kylie minogue,so for that alone i will never buy a lily allen release

Fox says Lily is all hype

By NADIA BROOKS

Sun Online

LILY Allen will be forgotten in two years’ time, according to Neil Fox.

The DJ reckons the number one artist is "all hype".

Lily, daughter of comedian Keith, is at the top of the charts with Smile.

But Fox said: "I do think it’s all just hype with her. In two years’ time are we still going to be talking about her? No."

He added: "Smile is a good summer tune, and very appropriate for the weather we’re having, but I think she’ll pretty much be a one-hit wonder."

Fox said few artists today had the longevity factor of say Robbie Williams.

He said: "He’s still fantastic."

Fox will host this year’s Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Peter Pan Awards in September.

Children from six to 16 can still enter their creative work into writing, art and photography categories.

Children should send their stories, pictures or photos to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity by July 28.

For more information go to www.gosh.org/peterpanawards.

Much as it pains me to agree with "Dr" Fox, I think he is right about Lily Allen.

She will be this generation's answer to Wendy James (Transvision Vamp) = All mouth & little substance.

Transvision Vamp at least had a few good tunes though.... I've heard maybe a few songs of Lily Allen and they do nowt for me I'm afraid

But Wendy James did talk a load of bollocks, I agree. While Lily's said a few things that I do actually agree with essentially, when she complains about how certain acts have no substance, well, it's fair comment, but to do that, you kinda need to have some yourself...

I'm adding this to this thread as I don't want the Pop forum cluttered with Lily Allen stories....

Lily Allen rewarded with £20K bonus

DigitalSpy: Saturday, July 22 2006, 11:46 BST - by Daniel Kilkelly

Lily Allen has been given a £20,000 bonus after missing out on a chance to win the Nationwide Mercury Prize.

Although the Smile singer did not appear on this week's nomination list, her record company decided to make up for the disappointment with the one-off sum - which equals the amount given to the eventual winner.

"Everyone in the Lily camp is really proud of her success," an insider told the Daily Star. "Going straight to Number One with Smile is a massive achievement for her and the way she's handled the fame is admirable.

"Behind the scenes it was widely expected Lily would be on the Mercury list as she's an innovative performer with genuine lyrics. Her label thought the Mercurys would love her. When the nominees came through, Lily was naturally dismayed but didn't let it get her down. But her team thought she deserved a perk and have put £20,000 in her bank account."

OK the report is by the Daily Star, therefore I with take it's legitimacy with a huge dollop of salt. However if this story is true, then it smacks of arrogance by her & her Record company. What do the rest of you think?

I actually agree with him -_- Plus everything she's said has been said by someone else before so it's not like she should be admired for that.

She's got a few good songs on her album but what I've heard isn't THAT good but I'll probably end up buying it anyway to hear the rest..
