December 13, 200717 yr Seems to me he is an older version of Sven with worse English Lots of success in Italy but he is notoriois for dull tactics - both are like Sven But he is a hard bast*rd so might be just what the players need
December 13, 200717 yr A great choice. We don't have a competitve game until August or whenever, it gives him more than enough time to get to know his players and get a better grasp of English.
December 13, 200717 yr hope he keeps up his reputation of picking the best blend of players and not just the superstars ^_^
December 13, 200717 yr Well I'm delighted. He was my dream choice, as he has a well earned reputation for taking no bull$h1t from the over-inflated egos of many of England's overplayed, over-rated so called golden generation (more like a golden shower). Likewise, he hates the media. Period. But he is a winner with a huge capital W, who's CV makes Jose Mourinho look like an amateur. While he has a huge point to prove to his native Italian FA after they passed over him for Lippi for the last World Cup, which Lippi managed to win with the worst World Cup winning team in living memory. Hopefully, he'll make a point of stripping John Terry of his captaincy after he "celebrated" England's failure to qualify for the Euro's 2008 by getting rat-arsed in a well known London strip club. Whilst rewarding David Beckham with the England captaincy (in his 100th Game for the national team) for his first friendly at home v Switzerland in February before dispatching Golden balls into International retirement.

Exactly. Excellent choice and tbh I don't care if we play dull football, it's better to play dull football and win and we need to get back on track on the world status. Hopefully his assistant will be Shearer...
December 13, 200717 yr My fave would of been Jurgen Klinsmann, who I though would of done an amazing job for England. But m confident that Capello will do A good job for England.

Hopefully his assistant will be Shearer... Sky Sports News said his backroom staff are all likely to be almost entirely Italian  and Baldini doesn;t sound too English to me
December 14, 200717 yr Shearer /? have i missed something ? what coaching exp he got ? he could teach the art of elbowing but he has no coaching badges The Asst andf u21 managers should have experienvce
December 14, 200717 yr He's a great manager, and I'm sure he'll manage everything very good :D Tho, sometimes his behaviour is really really weird.

While he has a huge point to prove to his native Italian FA after they passed over him for Lippi for the last World Cup, which Lippi managed to win with the worst World Cup winning team in living memory. Italy only won because of the poor quality of football on show by the teams they played bar Australia and Germany, not to mention being lucky against Germany. Late minute penalty presents by refs really helped them, and was it Totti who dived for the penalty and admitted he did after the Australia game by using cryptic sentences?. Capello's got a deal with the FA where they can part ways in 2010 (or something like that) so chances are we'll be looking for a new manager again after the World Cup and if Shearer is given the right guidance under Capello and gets the right coaching badges then he'd be perfect for the job.
December 15, 200717 yr I wonder if he'll manage to persuede some of the foreiners eligible to play for us now to play... Arteta is what England need.
December 15, 200717 yr I remember a while ago hearing Cudicini is eligible for England, even though he's getting on he's still better than most of the goalies England have to offer.
December 15, 200717 yr .... Arsenal's goalkeeper Almunia is eligible to play for England from 2008-2009 season.
December 15, 200717 yr They should have a rule that unless you were born in England that you can't play for England, it makes a mockery of the whole thing the fact that foreigners can come here, play a few years at club level and be allowed to play for England, or even worse the Irish system where if your great grandmothers cleaner was Irish you are entitled to play for Ireland at football Unless you are born in a country you shouldn't be allowed to play for it
December 15, 200717 yr Gael Clichy and Mikel Arteta will also be eligible in the not too distant future... Personally, whilst I would prefer only English players, it happens with loads of other countries in the world (France anyone?), our Cricket team also has non-English people playing for them, so I don't see why we shouldn't either. Arteta and Clicy are better than what we've got and can't get into their own countries squads....

What next, why not suggest the same thing with regards gaining a UK passport & citizenship? Ridiculous.
December 15, 200717 yr Who do you think you are, Enoch Powell?????? What next, why not suggest the same thing with regards gaining a UK passport & citizenship? Ridiculous. Nothing to do with race, I would say the same thing about an Australian as I would do a Nigerian I think that only the indigenous population should be entitled to play for England be they black, asian, white, as long as they are born here then they are English to me but to me an economic migrant gaining citizenship is not a true Englishman, I could go and live in Australia tomorrow and be entitled to citizenship in 5 years but I would still always be English as I was born here America have a rule that the president must have been born in America, Arnie Schwarzenegger would be a shoe in for the Republican nomination for president but he is never entitled to stand as he was born outside of America even though he has lived in America since 1973, thats the way it should be with English sport too
