Posted May 18, 200619 yr effective or just a bunch of paper pushers with those on the beat going after the 'little man'? :o
May 18, 200619 yr There are not enough police in this country and now Blair is sacking 25,000 more and giving the jobs to hobby bobbies   There should be a lot more police than there are now and trained and skilled ones not just the butchers, bakers and candlestick makers that make up the Special Constabulary Police are too few in numbers and they are so overwhelmed with paperwork that they haven't got time to do police work Just to make 1 arrest there is 8 yes EIGHT forms for a policeman to fill in and thats absurd  Slash red tape and paperwork and recruit at least 50,000 new police officers
May 18, 200619 yr The police force in this country is pathetic. There is no justice. When someone gets 'life' they are out in 20. Life should mean life.
May 18, 200619 yr The police force in this country is pathetic. There is no justice. When someone gets 'life' they are out in 20. Life should mean life. There are different forms of Life tariff, serial killers NEVER get released for instance I think there is no way that everyone who commits what is technically murder should spend the rest of their life in jail Should Tony Martin have spent the rest of his life in jail ? Should a battered wife who kills her husband after 10 years of beatings spend the rest of life in jail ? Should a man who gets back from the nightshift to find his wife in bed with the milkman and in a fit of rage kills the milkman should he have to spend the rest of his life in jail ? We should bring in different catergories of murder in this country because your suggestion as I read it is that Tony Martin or a battered wife should serve the same sentence as Huntley, Brady or Sutcliffe which I hope is not what you are suggesting
May 18, 200619 yr The police force in this country is pathetic. There is no justice. When someone gets 'life' they are out in 20. Life should mean life. Also what has the police got to do with the justice system ?? the police just arrest people and gather evidence, they don't sentence people  Having a go at the police over sentence tarriffs is like having a go at school teachers for road works
May 18, 200619 yr Should Tony Martin have spent the rest of his life in jail ? No - and the people who burgled him live in the same town as me... Should a battered wife who kills her husband after 10 years of beatings spend the rest of life in jail ? Yes, just because she's a woman doesn't mean she should get off. Should a man who gets back from the nightshift to find his wife in bed with the milkman and in a fit of rage kills the milkman should he have to spend the rest of his life in jail ? No, however that's a hard question to answer, but it is similar to the Tony Martin question.
May 18, 200619 yr Also what has the police got to do with the justice system ?? the police just arrest people and gather evidence, they don't sentence people  Having a go at the police over sentence tarriffs is like having a go at school teachers for road works  Well I couldn't really think of the right word to use lol it's been a long day, but you get what I mean. Whoever makes the sentences then. And that battered wife one. I think she should get life because why put up with it for ten years? Surely you'd leave after the first time he did it??
May 18, 200619 yr I used to live in Bristol and Avon and Somerset constabulary have the 2nd worst figures for crime-solving in the whole of the UK. I got burgled once, waited for 24 hours for the police and fingerprint people to arrive - only for the forensic people to leave FAR more mess and upset than the actual burglars did. Of course, it was all pointless and I only really called them so I could get the crime reference number to claim my insurance money - they were utterly inept and that was the last I heard from them.
May 18, 200619 yr And that battered wife one. I think she should get life because why put up with it for ten years? Surely you'd leave after the first time he did it?? Ahahaha! That was cooooold! Clearly not that simple though. Jezza Kyle says so, aye. :o B). And omg@people crapping their pants just 'cause you put yer opinion.
May 18, 200619 yr We do need more porkies around, the ones where I lived was right fipping **** wipes, they fine you if you drop litter or a bud end, but where the feck are they if your house is getting robbed? Our police system is the pits due to the fact if you was getting followed home by a pervert you'd have to ring the police then 10mins later you'd have to ring again to confirm it, I just thopught we did that we ordered a pizza every sat night, total piss takers. And don't even get me started on the justic system.
May 19, 200619 yr Ahahaha! That was cooooold! Clearly not that simple though. Jezza Kyle says so, aye. :o B). And omg@people crapping their pants just 'cause you put yer opinion. Gotta be cruel to be kind B) . I don't watch Jezza. It's all about Trisha in my house. And I know LOL :o .

No, but it should've been a damn sight longer than the measly one year (if that) he did serve. Not guilty of murder maybe, but certainly guilty of manslaughter (10-15 years or judge's discretion) and possession of a illegal firearm (10 years). With good behaviour, maybe out in 10.... Should a battered wife who killse her husband after 10 years of beatings spend the rest of her life in jail? - No, it's a clear-cut case of self-defence if he was actually in the process of beating her at the time, otherwise manslaughter (10-15 or judge's discretion), with good behaviour, out in 5 or 6. I've not got much sympathy for men who beat up women.... <_< The third one (cant be assed typing it all out.. ) - Crime of passion, possibly even temporary insanity again, manslaughter (judge's discretion)

May 23, 200619 yr To answer the question put though, they don't seem to be terribly effective in dealing with actual crime, but, by God, their efficiency in dealing with Peaceful Anti-War demonstrators who protest in Parliament Square or the Cenotaph is second to none.....
