elvis? i thought he had a single with 18 weeks at No.1, or that was in the US?

Years ago, when you had a long running number one, you also used to have a long running number two, which would be stuck behind it.

I.E

A Little Bit More & Dont go breaking my heart

Floral Dance & Mull of Kintyre

I Swear & Love is all around

I'm too sexy & Everything I do

etc...

Though it doesnt seem to happen as much now.

Elvis spent 11 weeks at number one in US with Hound Dog in 56 Frankie Laine spent 18 weeks at number one here with I believe in 53.

Elvis had 18 number ones up until 2005...maybe that's the stat you're confusing here?

then again you might be getting mixed up with Frankie Laine with Paul Weston and his Orchestra who spent 18 weeks at number one with the song I Believe (altogether). this is the most for any single ever.

of course this was years and years ago, so you might have got all the old singers mixed up
