Amy Winehouse's dad has branded Pete Doherty a "scumbag".

 

The taxi driver revealed that he is very concerned by his daughter's current health status and that he believes people like Doherty are making matters worse.

 

Mitch Winehouse was reported to have attacked Doherty with a guitar after spotting him backstage with his daughter at the Brixton Academy earlier this month.

 

Talking about the Babyshambles singer, he told Grazia: "I do worry about people like Pete Doherty. He's a scumbag.

 

"I flipped when I saw him sitting with Amy backstage at her Brixton gig. That night I went crazy. My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack, I was apoplectic."

 

On the subject of his daughter's well-being, he added: "It's clear there are self-image issues, self-loathing.

 

"We were recently looking at photos of her five years ago, when she was curvy, and she said, 'I look really happy there'. I said, 'Aren't you happy now, darling?' And she said, 'I've been happier'."
