Whilst I agree with Craig that the players shouldn't be role models - unfortunately they are.

They sell underpants and perfume and lifestyle dreams to the less intelligent , flash their homes in magazines and on TV, they want us to want their lives.

But what about these 'girls'? Why did they go to this party. Well I am certain a good number of them went there to shag a footballer.

Whilst I will stop short of the phrase "asking for it" I am sure they are not all as innocent as they will now try to make out.

You only have to remember that vile creature on Big Brother earlier this year whose ambition was to marry a footballer.

I am sure we will never know the full details of this 'party' and personally I don't want to.

@ Craig - I am sure you are right and this sort of thing goes on a many sales conferences and Christmas parties all over the country - but am not sure there is such a ready supply of eager little slappers at such occasions.

You're convieniently missing out the fact that Manchester Utd is now a corporation, an intenationally recognised brand, not so much a football team, in this day and age... And, yeah, the board at Man U really does try to put across this family friendly "brand image". The days of George Best were when football really was football and not a corporate piece of sh!t with every player it seems selling coke, pepsi, mcdonald's, fukkin' computer games, etc.... They cant have it both ways, they cant sell themselves as being these squeaky-clean corporate idols on the one hand, and then on the other be bunch of drunken lads...

If they were drinking and having sex on the PITCH I would have a problem with it but they are only employed by Man Utd when they are training or playing, outside of that time they are free agents just ordinary men they are not "on duty" all the time, why is it ok for a salesman or a postman to go out and get pissed and not a footballer ? outside of football hours as far as I am concerned it is their private life and nothing to do with Man Utd or any of us so long as they stay within the laws of the land

But what about these 'girls'? Why did they go to this party. Well I am certain a good number of them went there to shag a footballer.

A very, very good point. Every single one of those 100 girls was hired from various modelling agencies around Manchester and the vast majority of them will dream of being a WAG because that is now the lifestlyle these girls want. They'd much rather be a pampered WAG with a husband they're only with for the money. They can be celebrities themselves. There's nothing they'd like more than shagging a Man Utd footballer for a while. The players may not be blameless, the girls are no less to blame. :puke:

I see no real problem with the event itself, jeez this sorta thing happens at the end of sales conferences all the time, if this had been postmen or salesmen having this sorta party no one would have given a damn so I dont understand why there is this sorta fuss about footballers they are just men once they have their Utd strip off

Who cares about a bunch of nameless sales reps or posties though...? Are they famous..? Does anyone seriously idolise Posties or Salesmen....? Dont be ridiculous, you cannot compare the two things. You also cannot compare mine and Russ's past drug use, I've not set myself up (nor has Russ) as any kind of role model. We're not selling an image the way footballers do.. These guys are selling an image, they sell an image of sporting prowess, health and fitness, they go out on the pitch and on TV setting an example for young kids to follow... Let's just compare some of these footballers to Olympic athletes shall we...? We rightly act all disgusted when an olympic athlete is caught out in a drugs test, so why not show the same revulsion for this bunch of drunken arseholes masquerading as "sportsmen", surely getting smashed constantly is gonna adversely effect performance on the pitch... Double standards if you ask me...

And NOBODY has really effectively answered the point as to why it was felt necessary to bar wives, partners and families from what was supposed to be a Christmas party.

I'm sure IF, that's IF, Jonny Evans is found guilty of rape, people will be rightly disgusted, but until then I don't see why we should be. Unless I'm much mistaken, you usually say 'innocent until proven guilty' in Perspectives/News. Why should it be different here? It shouldn't!

Spot on.. About the only "eager little slappers" they'd be able to get at sales rep and postie pish-ups are gonna be pretty much of the, ahem, shall we say, professional variety.... ie, hookers and strippers, who'd be paid handsomely for their "services"....

And, yeah, I can totally see your point about how some of these girls would have acted, ie, with them going out to specifically shag a footballer.. All the more reason to NOT have this sort of party then surely, it's only gonna lead to trouble, aggro, etc, especially when you consider the fact that a good many of these players are already married or in long-term relationships.. Anyone with any fukkin' sense knows where this is gonna go, that it is gonna head south, especially when you put a de-facto 'banning order' on wives and partners....

Sorry, but you cant call foul when it's you setting the rules, and the rules were set here by the players....

EH?? Where in my post did I even MENTION the rape allegation????? I'm talking in general terms about the mood and atmosphere about the party itself, they way it was only asking for trouble when the players started making rules about wives and partners not being allowed to attend, and if it was advisable given the facts that there were SO many ways for this thing to go t*ts up (which it did..), that it was a good idea to do it in the way they did. It just seems to me that not a hell of a lot of thought or common sense was put into this....

It is not the fault of the players if kids have them as role models the problem there lies with the people themselves and the media, I don't think kids up and down the country are going to engage in "roasting" because Micah Richards did it any more than they are going to shove mobile phones up their arses because Ashley Cole did it or simulate sex in a club because Kanye West did it, I am not aware of any increase in teenage drink driving as a result of Britney or Paris Hilton, I still maintain that people are idolised in their professional capacity as opposed to in their personal lives so as long as Utd players or any other footballer is doing his business out on the pitch to his best abilities it should not matter what he gets up to in the privacy of his own bedroom

Well let's see .... a party with many young ladies from ahem "modelling" agencies ...... wives were banned because it was a shagging party. Or am I being a little cynical?

Like you I could not care less what an individual footballer does in their own privacy, whether the media gets hold of it or not.

But what I do have a pretty big problem wih is that this was Manchester United's Christmas Work's do. No family waere invited and from the evidence available it become a p1$$up orgy. I'm sorry but at my company works do's you are REPRESENTING YOUR COMPANY.

Therefore these Manchester United players have badly let down their supporters and their club, by behaving in an allegedly bad manner.

Manchester United 'rape' girl could be charged with wasting police time

Headline from one of the Sundays

Police sources say there are glaring inconsistencies between the written, audio and video statements by the 26-year-old woman.

wives were banned because it was a shagging party. Or am I being a little cynical?

Pretty much it in a nutshell ICR.... Which is basically why I feel very little sympathy for these footballers.. They set this thing up in the way they did purely for a bit of "extra-marital" nookie, and that to me is pretty fukked-up.... Whether the allegation is true or not, there is still a yard-wide streak of general amorality about the whole enterprise rape or no rape.... And, like it or not, these people are role-models....

Live by the sword, die by it... It fukked up and the gutter press got their hooks in, hell mend them for being so bloody stupid in the first place.....

Fame & Money has ruined footy.

This must be like the hundreth rape claim by a girl from a footie player in the last 5 years. When they're not playing footie, they're having sex with hundreds of girls and boozing about (ok, it sounds like a good life  ) but they need to set an example to all the 3/4/5 year olds that look up to them.

Oh and secondly, WAG's. :arrr: They've killed alot of football. "Marry a footie player and you can join the Wags Clan Gang". Eugh.

I don't get the whole footballers and famous people in general shouldn't be doing what EVERYONE ELSE does because apparently they're 'idols' so if I'm famous I shouldn't go out and get drunk (and no not EVERYONE and neither does every famous person drink 12 pints every night like the people in the media who have no idea what they're on about) Another thing that makes me angry and I never thought I'd disagree with Bobby Charlton or Fergie about anything but their comments about the whole 'David Beckham could have been the best' Posh ruined him, distracted him etc. Is his whole life supposed to revolve around football? People fall in love and other things become important, just because he's a footballer doesn't make him any less normal than anyone else.

Also with some of the points in this thread, Fergie has always been known for kicking people straight out whoever they are if he feels they've stepped over the line (though even he's admitted selling Jaap Stam was a big mistake) though no one looks like they've done anything seriously wrong here.

Anyway it looks like this is a pack of lies from someone who wants to make money and I sincerly hope this doesn't damage his career at all but I presume the usual fat and bald hooligans are going to be abusing him as he's just gone on loan to Sunderland so he's now gonna be playing some more games.

but I presume the usual fat and bald hooligans are going to be abusing him as he's just gone on loan to Sunderland so he's now gonna be playing some more games.

I doubt that somewhat.

If he was charged then most definitely he'd get abuse but then his career would be over so it would be irrelevant.

I guess most Football supporters will feel sorry for him that he got accused of rape etc etc, its quite a lot of mens worst nightmare for that to happen. SO he wouldn't face that much, if any abuse.

Also I doubt his career will plummet, unless his form does too. Infact its likely going to improve his career as who'd have heard of this Manchester United reserve player before this incident?
