Dido is as dull as Coldplay :manson:

Annie Lennox is past her best but has made some cracking songs over the years solo, duets and with Dave Stewart

It is like starting a poll asking who is the better footballer Emile Heskey or Thierry Henry

Based on some of the great material her and Dave made as the Eurythmics, it has to be Annie.

Dido is just... well, I don't want to get myself started on her, cause I won't stop.

What a silly question. Annie Lennox by a country mile. She may not be that good anymore, but in her day she was brilliant, and one of the most talented females of all time. Dido is just bland and nothing much else.
Firstly, Dido is not working with Timbaland. And I love her music, whereas Annie's lately is bloody awful, so based on the state of their releases today, I'll go with Dido. ^_^

Annie was really good on Eurythmics ('80s) and her first two albums ('90s)

Dido is good too and because I liked her latest album I voted fir her... :)

It's pretty ludicrous...and tremendously sad... that an artist with a history of groundbreaking music like Annie Lennox can even be mentioned on this site in the same sentence as a flat-as-a-witches-tit artist who made her name on her brothers' back (woe betide the usually faultless Rollo for inflicting his ghastly posh sister on us).

OK, Annie Lennox's last great album was 15 years ago - but to even consider voting for Dido (with the silent 'L') over Lennox displays a colossal ineptitude when it comes to the understandings of great popular music and culture.

For me it's no question, Annie Lennox. Dido is a borefest for me; I've only enjoyed White Flag and Thank You.

I remember when I was very young, I was obsessed with Sweet Dreams. I still am today. Such a brilliant song.

No question for me: Annie Lennox! Classics like Eurythmics and her solo songs are just great!

Dido can't even sing she has no voice and I still cannot understand how she's that big... sorry.

I love them both really; I voted Lennox though PURELY based on vocal ability.

However Dido's got more than her fair share of decent songs. See You When You're 40 and Stoned are wonderful.

I really can't understand why you hate Dido with such an "amazing" passion... <_<

Do you think if you hate an artist anyone should hate because it's "cool" or what? OK you don't like her voice, her music but "flat-as-a-witches-tit artist who made her name on her brothers' back" are too rude don't you think?

Annie Lennox was better in terms of music some years ago and is still one of the best when it comes about voice. Don't get me wrong. I really like her old songs and her work on Eurythmics.

But to say Dido is zero that means you're totally narrow-minded. Maybe you're in the same league with those that "gathered" every penny 4 years ago to buy Dido's latest album when she was on Top 10 and now suddenly hate her for no serious reason :naughty:

I voted for her because I'm waiting for her next album (maybe March 2008) and I have high expectations (her producers are Jon Brion and Brian Eno - on a couple of songs).

It was her producer. So what? She sold millions of albums because people liked her albums. She wrote the lyrics, she sang the songs what do you want more?

Her collaborations with Faithless (her brother is member here) were amazing too (have you ever listened to "Salva Mea" or "One Step Too Far"? -_- )

You forgot about Stan (that Eminem's song). That was the real breakthrough.

Colossal ineptitude? What's that? (that thing with silent L is rude too!)

How about this list of my fave artists?

And to be clear: I voted with anyone I wanted to!

So, give me a break!

;)

I actually bought the Dido album when it initially came out, before most, and I actually liked it - before the abysmal DStan was a hit, too - way before.

Your list of favourite acts - am I seriously meant to be impressed? Any liost that insludes such musical deadweights as Sting and Bryan Adams makes me shiver with disgust, not open-mouthed with admiration I can assure you.

Have I ever listened to Salva Mea? Oh please... I bought EVERY Cheeky release on the day it came out - PLEASE don't attempt to lecture me on them - that's why I'm quite aware Dido made her name on her brothers' back.

As for hating her with a passion - err... HOW can anyone hate someone so limp, lfeless, mediocre and boring? She doesn't stir any emtion in me. Other than extreme boredom of course.

Gathered pennies four years ago? Hardly, dear.... I'm pretty sure I owned the first Dido album when you still thought a dido was something a woman buys at a hen party. Not something I'm proud of (at all)... just stating a fact.

Thank you.

The Police were great.... Sting solo? err.........

And there's never any excuse for bilge like Bryan Adams. Not ever.

Nice namechecks for Cocteau Twins, Ladytron and Client, though, even if they do sit rather uncomfortably with (mumbles with embarrassment) Roxette (sorry for swearing).

as you're such a fan of Salva Mea.... a few weeks ago, it's the song I nominated in the Retro 1995 song of the year contest - perhaps you'd like to pop over there and vote for it?
Why should anybody be lectured for voting a great singer-songwriter? The women has had some truly amazing songs which showcase her song-writing abilities - see Isobel - and her music appeals to a wide range of audiences, from teenagers to mums, young adults to parents. My English Language teacher made us listen to Sand In My Shoes one lesson because of it's relevance to modern culture. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about in voting this talented girl; clearly the record-breaking two million people who bought her debut weren't disappointed, since they all bought the second too! I would vote Dido again, and again, since Annie hasn't had a great song in years, and that Sing tripe was beyond embarassing. I hope nobody lets Russt's 'superior knowledge' guide their choice here.

You tell 'em sister! :kink:

Annie Lennox by a mile.. At least Annie was a quality, class act at one pointn (mainly her stuff with The Tourists and the legendary Eurythmics as well as early solo stuff), the only "quality" Dulldo has is for boring everyone sh!tless with her dull-as-last-night's-dishwater take on "chill out" music, "Chill Out" means expanding your mind, it does NOT mean "put you into a fukkin' coma...". And I am in total agreement with Russ, Dulldo only got her break because Rollo was her brother, end of.....

If Dulldo ever comes up with a song to rival "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)", "Here Comes The Rain Again" or "Love Is a Stranger", wake me up and I might listen.... -_-

I hope nobody lets Russt's 'superior knowledge' guide their choice here.

Well, his knowledge of music is almost certainly superior to yours mate.... -_-

clearly the record-breaking two million people who bought her debut weren't disappointed,

Well, the Chin-strokey, middle-class Coffee bar brigade is a pretty big market, as is the we-only-buy-one-or-two-albums-a-year market.... -_-
