December 29, 200717 yr I especially didn't like the intros to the originals of What Can I Do (do do do do) and So Young (which just jumped in with yeah yeahs) It's odd that we have such differing views on The Corrs...I know your favourite song of theirs is Closer but I wouldn't rank that one even in my top 40 :o I suppose the bit in Baby Be Brave that I liked was the 'confide in me' backing vocals Really  I much preferred the Unplugged version, which to this day is the most well produced live recording I have ever heard...it never sounded out of place on the radio At Your Side's studio version was better though We really are disagreeing on everything :( I have a soft spot for the WCID opening. It's childish-sounding, but I like the do-do-do's, gives the track a warm, folky feel. Closer is indeed wonderful, my favourite track EVER. The climax is awesome with the piano, the backing vocals, the electric guitar; it added a slightly harsh, wintery vibe to the song which never fails to give me goosebumps. The Unplugged version of Radio IS very well done agreed; it would be interesting to see how many people actually picked up that it was a live recording when it hit the airwaves, it could easily have been a studio recording. But there's just something about the In Blue version that I love; the bridge is a bit more hard-hitting, I think the track just makes more of an immediate impression. At Your Side I preferred the Unplugged version :( Although I like both versions, I think the song can come across a bit too cheesy and glossy in the studio recording; but when performed as an acoustic number it just feels warm. I really am spouting a lot of c**p today.

In Blue was a tad overproduced in places...I love the songs but some of the production does not suit the songs on that album...having said that the only song I particularly dislike on it is Rain (which is probably your favourite :P )... I seem to associate the original What Can I Do with a NatWest advert from 1998 which used that tune and introduction

The one from In Blue I really can't stand though is Say; when it gets to the chorus it's cringeworthy, so cheesy; it really could have been a S Club 7 track. I remember the bank adverts; weird to think The Corrs used to be one of the biggest bands around only a few years ago. And now... Edited December 29, 200717 yr by Shoat

I always liked Say  especially Sharon and Caroline's backing vocals towards the end although I agree that its incredibly cheesy! I know...Corrs have really fallen from favour. Remember that week in early 1999 when they had the No.1 and No.2 album in the UK simultaneously :o

I know...Corrs have really fallen from favour. Remember that week in early 1999 when they had the No.1 and No.2 album in the UK simultaneously :o That was a pretty big achievement really; I don't know if it had ever been done before, but I'm pretty sure no act has managed it to do that since. They were EVERYWHERE 98/99. I think the rot began to set in with the Irresistible release; since that point they've never really had any success on a huge scale. Irresistible always struck me as an odd single choice. They had their choice of so many potential hits on the In Blue album, but they plumbed for what was basically a weaker re-working of Breathless. I honestly think Give Me A Reason would have done better as the second single, or possibly All The Love In The World.
December 29, 200717 yr Irresistible was my favourite at the time :P I kept waiting for the video to show up on MTV. Dunno why it flopped, I doubt the album sold that many to prevent it from charting high. They even got decent airplay from Radio 1 at the time, so there's no excuse.
December 29, 200717 yr In Blue sold around 900k alltogether so to get to number 21 or whatever is fine imo.. I thought Irresistible was amazing  But i was like 12 at the time so the poppier the better lol. Edited December 29, 200717 yr by Sean

In the UK, the album did fairly well actually. In the end it sold close to 900k I think (like Sean has just said), and the majority of that came before the Irresistible release; the album sales probably did play some part in the flop. Although I still think the single choice didn't help. Edited December 29, 200717 yr by Shoat
December 29, 200717 yr Oh well that certainly didnt help at all then. #20 is a decent position for it then I'd say.
December 30, 200717 yr I like Irresistible about as much as Breathless...I would have personally picked All The Love In The World as a single (it even had a video made for it!) No More Cry could have made a great single too... When I saw them live in 2004 they sang no In Blue album tracks...yet loads of Talk On Corners album tracks...its like they disowned In Blue
December 30, 200717 yr I'm surprised they didn't play Breathless; their biggest hit worldwide isn't it? It is fair enough to put a heavy focus on TOC though; it was MASSIVE.
December 30, 200717 yr For me, 'Would You Be Happier' is their best track. I did receive the In Blue album as a christmas present in 2000, but I never gave it a proper listen and I have since mislayed it. :(
December 30, 200717 yr For me, 'Would You Be Happier' is their best track. You must be the only person who has EVER said that  Even the Corrs themselves don't seem keen; it rarely features in live sets, and it was missed off their last collection despite being a top 20 hit. It was probably their poppiest moment, but the video is a guilty pleasure.

December 31, 200717 yr I love them, all of their album are amazing, but I agree with most of you, Home is my least favorite/

Sorry, I meant they didn't play any album tracks from In Blue...I was happy enough though...the TOC album tracks are far superior
