01 BLEEDING LOVE - LEONA LEWIS

Not very often, that a single, from the beginning of the year, ends up, in the year end, top 3, with MIKA...another that springs to mind, was DAVID SOUL in 1977, who had a number one in Jan 77, with DON`T GIVE UP ON US, and managed to take the year`s best seller.

27 DON`T TURN AROUND - ASWAD

28 BEAT DIS - BOMB THE BASS

29 GET OUTTA MY DREAMS - BILLY OCEAN

30 TOGETHER FOREVER - RICK ASTLEY

Well done to KYLIE in 1988, ohh, and JASON!! PHIL COLLINS did not make number one, on mrib in 1988, and U2`s DESIRE, achieved more airplay, than the sales. Funnily mrib, tell us that MISTLETOE AND WINE has sold 980,000, BUT it only shows at number 3, for 1988!! Mind you, CLIFF himself tells us that it was his second million seller too!! He also, gave us the full sales to MILLENIUM PRAYER as to 1.5 million...

I think its sales up to and including Friday???

Wow for Booty Luv soaring up to No.15! Should be in about the same place tomorrow which would be their 4th top 20 hit

Quite a lot of singles have been pushed up the chart in the top 20, hence there are no Xmas tracks, Booty Luv should end up top 10 I think tomorrow.

Seems two tracks are double A sides now from Casada and Katie Melua

Funny how Mariah's fallen loads yet The Pogues have only gone down a couple of places. I guess The Pogues is one Xmas song you can get away with listening to all year!

Hope Booty Luv can go a bit higher tomorrow.

Pogues have had a physical release, and Mariah hasn't... Mariah was bound to fall like a brick through a window.

I wonder if anybody went into a shop, and bought About You Now, instead of Change, by mistake? Could easily happen. I think, Katie Melua, could have kept Leon, off the top had the single, not been only available in Tesco.
What are the 2 Mika songs in the chart, Trevs?

HAPPY ENDING re-enters the top 40, and RELAX (TAKE IT EASY) enters for the first time. This single, is already on display, in HMV, on all 3 formats...On the other side of the fence LOVE TODAY becomes the 61st best seller of the year.

On reflection, the chart this week, seems to look a bit like Hit40uk`s chart, last Sunday, apart from the top ten, coz the HOOSIERS (GOODBYE MR A.) was in their top 20 still, and HAPPY ENDING was 29, on there, last week.

Where is Goodbye Mr A in the chart of the year, at the mo?

Its number 60, actually 51 - 60, in the year end chart, are like this...

60 GOODBYE MR A. - HOOSIERS

59 GIRLFRIEND - AVRIL LAVIGNE

58 REHAB - AMY WINEHOUSE

57 NO ONE - ALICIA KEYS

56 UNINVITED - FREEMASONS

55 GIMME MORE - BRITNEY SPEARS

54 LIL` STAR - KELIS/C.LO

53 1973 - JAMES BLUNT

52 SHE`S SO LOVELY - SCOUTING FOR GIRLS

51 A MOMENT LIKE THIS - LEONA LEWIS

I reckon without a doubt the HOOSIERS album "TRICK TO LIFE" will go back up the album chart, tomorrow, and MIKA`s "LIFE IN CARTOON MOTION" will even go into the top 10, along with a top 20 re-entry, for TIMBALAND`s "SHOCK VALUE", and the SUGABABES, "CHANGES". All of those were, in various well known stores, top tens, this week, even RAISING SAND with ROBERT PLANT/ALISON KRAUS...Not fogetting AMY MCDONALD, and RIHANNA. I will be very surprised if TAKE THAT reclaim, a number 2 spot though. Remember on the mrib album chart last week, they were already a number 4, artist album, where as they were only number 8, on the official album chart.

I think BW by Take That will probably still be top 10 at best. Do you know if the talk of £3.99 was just for online purchases or selected stores - because my local HMV in Wigan has it still priced at £12.95 (cheeky beggars - that's more than I paid for the DeLuxe edition).

Alright there, Norma? I reckon, it was just the online purchases. It was still at 12.95, in Reading too, in HMV, but only 8.95, in another well know store! Some kind of price rip-off, I reckon. Of course, this time last year, it was the number one, of the moment....

I know - I suppose I shouldn't complain - it has done brill (if the stupid record company hadn't discontinued the DeLuxe edition it probably would have made top 5 this end-year!) Glad to know that Wigan isn't alone in having a dorky HMV!

I suppose, some stores do have both versions, still in stock, maybe that`s why it is apparently selling, that well?

I have seen both copies, still on sale, in and around Oxfordshire. Also, Trevs, can I thank you, for all the info, every Saturday. Its good to know what to expect, on a Sunday, before it happens. A shame that the mrib chart, isn`t actually broadcast on any radio stations today, if it were Iwould listen to it, instead of that Radio one c**p chat show! :puke2:

Believe me - I tried getting it for my niece a couple of days before Christmas and nowhere had it (HMV Bolton, Liverpool, Southport, Wigan) that's in addition to all my local Asda's, Tesco's and Woolworths. It isn't even available on HMV online. HMV in Bolton checked all their stores at that time and only two stores had copies in stock - one in Central London and one in Ireland. Luckily Amazon still had supplies - so my niece will get it for her birthday if not for Christmas (which I'd promised).

Anyone would think Polydor wanted Take That to fail!

I haven`t seen it in Reading either, since last month. It must depend on our individual towns. I was curious to find that only the deluxe version of Back to Black, was more readily available now, and the original version was suffering, in stock supply, and still OCC listed the albums separately!! mrib, did not do that, the original version was dropped.

Thanks for that. Yeah, it`s a shame about radio one...they seem to want to go in too competition, with Lucio`s dire Hit40uk. I don`t believe Radio one, need to chat to extent...Capital have to do it, because apart from the top 10, Hit40uk, is pretty much unimportant, with far too much airplay, added to the chart. When the Network Chart was on, only 5% was airplay, and it made more sense. 1988, was a fine example, U2 and DESIRE was a big Independant radio airplay hit. It didn`t even make the top 40, end of year chart best sellers, on Radio one. If Hit40uk, had been on, in 88, DESIRE would have been played at number 11, probably!! Too much, airplay info, for sure.

Give me a slick, no nonsense countdown any day, in the style of Simon Bates, Tom Browne, Tony Blackburn etc.
