December 29, 200717 yr I haven`t seen it in Reading either, since last month. It must depend on our individual towns. I was curious to find that only the deluxe version of Back to Black, was more readily available now, and the original version was suffering, in stock supply, and still OCC listed the albums separately!! mrib, did not do that, the original version was dropped. My friend, bought the Delux version of Amy, but when she got it home the girl in the shop, had put the original in the box, by mistake! :w00t: Edited December 29, 200717 yr by abc1

December 31, 200717 yr Here are the top 30 singles of 1988... 01 THE ONLY WAY IS UP - YAZZ 02 I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY - KYLIE 03 MISLETOE AND WINE - CLIFF 04 I THINK WERE ALONE NOW - TIFFANY 05 ESPECIALLY FOR YOU - KYLIE AND JASON Well done to KYLIE in 1988, ohh, and JASON!! PHIL COLLINS did not make number one, on mrib in 1988, and U2`s DESIRE, achieved more airplay, than the sales. Funnily mrib, tell us that MISTLETOE AND WINE has sold 980,000, BUT it only shows at number 3, for 1988!! Mind you, CLIFF himself tells us that it was his second million seller too!! He also, gave us the full sales to MILLENIUM PRAYER as to 1.5 million... It is only number 3 because MRIB charts as well as the year-end chart broadcast by Radio 1 included sales up to Christmas Eve 1988. The complete chart for 1988 as printed in Music Week/Record Mirror was, 01 MISLETOE AND WINE - CLIFF (750,000) 02 THE ONLY WAY IS UP - YAZZ (710,000) 03 I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY - KYLIE (650,000) 04 ESPECIALLY FOR YOU - KYLIE AND JASON (over 500,000) 05 I THINK WERE ALONE NOW - TIFFANY Approximate sales figures are given. However, some titles were still selling in 1989 (Kylie and Jason were at no. 1). So adjusted figures would be around, ESPECIALLY FOR YOU - KYLIE AND JASON (982,000) MISLETOE AND WINE - CLIFF (800,000). Cliff's claims probably relate to global sales - but NME said Mistletoe and Wine was his second UK million seller. Incidentally, do MRIB have a website?

I think it was less than Christmas Eve, for them, Friday 23rd December, is more likely. Thanks for the more likely figures, for Cliff...it`s probably 810,000, after extra downloads etc. MRIB are more business related these days, and don`t really deal with the general public. Which happened after the demise, of Emaps, Smash Hits Chart, in Sept 2006. No Sunday papers, take their charts anymore. The Sunday People did not renew their contract, in November, apparently. The old website, is ignored now, and not ever updated. They need some radio stations, to broadcast some charts. After 26 years, it seems to be fading, and the founder Barry Lazell died ten years ago...he was the chap, that first brought us an Indie chart, in 1980. MRIB grew from the old publication Record Business.
