January 2, 200817 yr The Ting Tings come in 3rd :o I'm sure Roo's happy with that as am I :D OMFG it's so weird. I knew this band before they even played their first gig or indeed had released "That's Not My Name". How bizarre if they do become big haha The BBC has been bumming them ever since Glasto so I'm not surprised they're on the list. I hope they do well, although I reckon they won't have much mainstream success but be pretty big with hipsters.
January 3, 200817 yr Yeah just noticied that Duffy is number 2. Which means that Adele is certain to win, isn't she?
January 3, 200817 yr Which means that Adele is certain to win, isn't she? Well, not certain, she could be any of 6-10. It is very likely that she'll be number 1 though.
January 3, 200817 yr Yeah just noticied that Duffy is number 2. Which means that Adele is certain to win, isn't she? Yep. But then again, you could see this a mile off as they both finished 1st and 2nd in the critic thing for the Brit award. Is more interesting to see who'll make up 5-10. I'm gonna go for Joe Lean etc. One Night Only, Black Kids, The Cool Kids and Does It Offend You, Yeah?

Have the Cool Kids even got a UK record deal? o_o I'm going to go with Hadouken!, Cajun Dance Party, Vampire Weekend and then 2 obscure ones no-one would have got such as an obligatory American and an obligatory rapper.
January 3, 200817 yr Cajun Dance Party will surely be there. I don't like them much but they'll be there...
January 3, 200817 yr Well personally I prefer Duffy's voice to Adele's but I'm not complaining about them being in the Top 2, they were both superb on Radio 2's annual sound of 2008 concert just before Xmas. As for #6 to #10........ I'll guess at: 6|Hadouken!, (I'm assuming they are still eligible, if not move the others up a place) 7| Does It Offend You, Yeah? 8| Cajun Dance Party 9| Laura Marling 10| One Night Only ---------------------------------- 11| Lightspeed Champion

January 4, 200817 yr http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainme...ON#vote_7163404 It seems that the public prefer Duffy to Adele [Poll on the right]. :o ^_^ Edited January 4, 200817 yr by Jonny
January 4, 200817 yr I saw Adele on the Breakfast show when they announced #1 and #2 of the sound of 2008 and Adele is she came across really annoying, she seemed kinda cocky. She's really gonna wind people up this year.
January 4, 200817 yr Adele is getting on my wick too now. Good to see Vampire Weekend and Black Kids in there! I'm suprised Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Hadouken! weren't anywhere to be seen in the Top20 at all however. :o
January 4, 200817 yr I saw Adele on the Breakfast show when they announced #1 and #2 of the sound of 2008 and Adele is she came across really annoying, she seemed kinda cocky. She's really gonna wind people up this year. Cockney, Adele went to BRIT school in Croydon, London (home to Amy Winehouse, The Feeling, Leona Lewis, Jack Penate, Jamie T, Katie Melua, Luke Pritchard (Kooks) & Imogen Heap amongst others) and has the same media agent as Lily Allen & Kate Nash. Whereas Duffy was discovered in a Welsh language singing competition and was born & brought up in a small village in Wales. Duffy is definitely more authentic than Adele, but Adele has all the London media glitterati contacts in her favour, which is why she topped the poll as she has a lot more of an inside track than Duffy has to reach the top.
