This is what that bast*rd Gordon Smart has said for tomorrow's Sun. Just what the hell would this man know about a hard days work? He is a tabloid journalist, and a showbiz one at that. Could there possibly be a job for a more lazy person? I think not. This man writes as if he is a child, and when he does big articles three quaters of them consist of quotes, like with him copying Rob's blog. Rob has worked a hell of alot harder in the past decade than most major acts combined, for the first time is his career he is taking a proper break and he gets called a recluse and gets mocked by a stupid tosser like this idiot.

He is so bloody stupid, and I am sick of him already. Bring back Vicky. The Sooner the better. This man has absolutelly no talent in writing articles, he is not even witty in the slightest, and he clutches onto straws in his desperate attempt to slag off Rob.

He's awful, he was writing something about an old Anastacia performance and got the dates year wrong by 5 years.

Robbie Williams' new row

By Fiona Cummins and Danielle Lawler 12/01/2008

Furious insiders at music giant EMI have slammed Robbie Williams for going on strike against his own label.

Robbie who signed an £80million deal in 2002 has vowed to withhold his next album in protest over thousands of predicted job cuts.

But yesterday sources at the firm insisted EMI wouldn't be "blackmailed" by the singer.

His "walkout" follows the takeover of EMI by private equity firm Terra Firma for £3.2billion. Its boss Guy Hands plans a shake-up.

Yesterday Robbie's manager Tim Clark angrily dubbed Hands a "plantation owner" who had made a "vanity purchase".

His words brought a furious response with one highly placed source telling the Mirror: "It's exactly like football.

"A new manager comes in and the agent tells him 'My centre forward isn't going to score unless he gets a pay-rise.'

The executive added: "Tim Clark always uses the media to negotiate. He put a gun to EMI's head with that £80million deal in 2002.

"He announced it before the deal had been formally done.

"Emi were put in an impossible position. It was either that - or lose a high-profile British artist. So they had to pay what everyone knew was a ridiculous amount.

"Robbie then fell out with his song-writing partner Guy Chambers and never did his big tour of the US. And he has only delivered two studio albums since, which is a pretty poor work rate. It's rich of Tim Clark to use a phrase like plantation owner to describe Mr Hands as he's a multi-millionaire Kenyan expat himself."

"Mr Hands want to get a business on its feet. He feels very strongly that acts should be measured on their own merits.

"There's plenty of EMI acts who are still very jealous and unhappy about Robbie getting that deal because it meant less for them.

"Stratospheric amounts have been paid to managers and lawyers too. It's time for a change."

Robbie, 33, also thought to be demanding control of his back catalogue, has said he wants to release music through his website.

But sources pointed out that his strike could last "a ridiculously long time" as he is contracted to produce another studio album and Greatest Hits album by 2012.

One added: "If he were to release an album straight to the internet, he would be in breach of contract."

The former Take That member has already sold 70million albums for the label since joining in 2002.

The row comes as it emerged all EMI artist managers have been ordered to meet Hands next week - and bring along their stars. Many big names are expected to snub it.

One worried insider said: "Everyone is dreading it. The mood round the office has been so sombre. We are all fear for our jobs."

HIS LAST EFFORT

Mirror critic Gavin Martin described the album as: ""The car crash that is Robbie"s Rudebox"." The Guardian weighed in: "A scant handful of highlights aside, it is packed with half-baked ideas, bad jokes, music that any other star of Williams" stature would be terrified of the public hearing". Q said: "On this showing he's bored and directionless," while Observer Music Monthly called it "an absolute howler".

typical bloody Mirror, doing their absolute best to make this all as negetive towards Rob as only they can. They have deliberatly gotton quotes ****ging Rob off, and even getting loads of facts completelly wrong, such as saying Rob has only released 2 studio albums since the deal. Then at the end, to print reviews for Rudebox, with all four reviews being very negetive. It is absolutelly ridiculous that they are allowed to be so completelly one-sidded with Rob. They are the absolutele worst paper of any kind there is by a mile. So unprofessional, even when it is'nt the 3am *****es writing the articles. Why don't they give their readers a balanced views, and post up some of the endless great reviews Rudebox got from top music critics who actually know what they are bloody talking about, as opose to those tabloids fools who probebly don't even listen to it. Where are the reviews from NME, Mojo, Uncut, Rolling Stone, Music Week, The Times, The Telegraph to name a few.

I would'nt be at all suprised if they completelly made up those quuotes, because anyone who is a close source for EMI would not get their facts so completelly wrong as to say he has only released 2 studio albums, when he has actually released three, and then say he has a poor work rate, when he is about the only major solo act in the world who releases an album every bloody year. Since the deal was signed, 07 was the only year he did'nt release anything. EMI are a bunch of ignorant morons, but I refuse to believe they are quite that stuid, so I would not put it past the Mirror to invent quotes to suit their negetive slants when it comes to Rob.

Interesting that It does say though that he does'nt have to have the new album and Greatest Hits released till 2012 though. How true that is I don't know, but a ten year deal seems right for so much money as £80m.

More made up Mirror c**p no doubt. And typically alot of the ill-informed fools on DS, actually buy it and are saying Rob is looking for attention and can't deal with TT's success so he wants to come back. What it must be like to be so completelly braindead, and actually still post comments when they clearly have no idea what they are talking about. Silly attention seeking fools

Rob's Brit move

Sounds like Robbie Williams could be heading back to our shores.

The Angels singer stayed at close pal Jonathan Ross's country pad in Swanage, Dorset, before Christmas.

And since then I hear Rob, 33 - who went on strike from record company EMI last week - has developed quite a taste for the area.

One spy revealed: "Contrary to what most people think, the one thing Robbie craves is a quiet life. During his stay in Swanage he and Jonathan played tennis on a local court and were virtually ignored. Rob was stunned at how little attention they got from locals.

"He is desperate to find somewhere where he will be left alone - and was asking Jonathan loads of questions about the area. He sounded very impressed."

If it's privacy you're after Rob, there's always room at my place...

Indeed I am. I am not only sick of the media constant slagging off of Rob for what seems like forever at this stage, but more so the sheer amount of ignorant idiots around the web who take what they say as gospel and than say Rob is only doing this as a publicity stunt.

The thought of another year of this c**p is just not worth thinking about. I just can't wait till he comes back and proves all these bast*rds wrong. <_<

They seem to just use Robs name to sell papers and magazines.

If they dont have good news then they know slagging Rob off will

always work...since ppl seem to believe it anyway! <_<

No doubt when these 2,000 people at EMI lose their jobs this week that will be Robbie's fault as well

Good grief its going from bad to worse everyday.

He's just keeping a tight grip on his album, its hardly the end of his career.

Oh that Tim. How I wish he would have kept the big mouth shut.

ROBBIES' HIT BY RHYTM STICK

THOUGHT that ROBBIE WILLIAMS was supposed to be on strike ?

The grumpy singer is keeping himself busy on the picket line with BLOCKHEADS star CHAZ JANKEL - who is helping him pen new material.

And as much as it pains me to say this, it’s a Reason To Be Cheerful for Rob.

Rotund Robster recently revealed in his blog he had lots of new songs in the bag, even though he wasn’t planning on releasing them any time soon.

But I can reveal the best of it is written with Jankel who was behind the 1978 smash hit Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick along with IAN DURY.

http://i6.tinypic.com/6y1d17b.jpg

CHAZ JENJEL

I’ve heard it’s some of Robbie’s best ever stuff - which makes it even more frustrating for fans he is in no rush to release it.

Jankel was credited for the funk influences in Ian Dury And The Blockheads, who had a hit with the brilliant Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3.

And singing funky pop numbers is what Robbie does best. Apart from eating muffins and drinking coffee, of course.

Last year he returned to the studio with Angels co-writer GUY CHAMBERS. But that hasn’t worked out and it’s Jankel’s work that will form the basis of Robbie’s comeback - whenever that may be.

A source revealed: “Robbie and Chaz have been working on some great stuff. “It’s back to Robbie’s funky best. Out of all of his new tunes, the Chaz stuff is the best. Currently his problem is that he has lots of different music that he’s worked with different people on. It all sounds very different so it doesn’t really sit very well as an album.

“And the big reunion with Guy was a real let-down. They just couldn’t reignite that spark.”

The Rudebox singer was a big pal of Dury’s. He attended his funeral in 2000 and has performed with the remaining Blockheads since his death following a cancer battle.

Robbie said earlier this month that he plans on releasing a B-sides album before his proper record - which may not see the light of day until 2009.

And he appears to be leading the EMI artists’ strike over advance payments.

I’m not quite sure how you are supposed to know Robbie is on strike. He’s sat on his backside for most of the past year anyway.

He should put his money where his muffin-filled mouth is and release a new album for his long-suffering fans.

His work with Jankel sounds like something he SHOULD be shouting about, for a change.

Guy Hands tells staff 'welcome to the future' Dan Sabbagh, Media Editor

Guy Hands, the new owner of EMI, has delayed recruiting a chief executive for the beleaguered music major until the summer as he grapples with a massive restructuring that will see the company lay off one in three of the workforce.

The venture capitalist, whose Terra Firma group bought EMI last year, also said that he was confident of repairing relations with key acts - and denied that there had been any falling out with Robbie Williams.

Mr Hands, who has installed himself as chairman of EMI, had hoped that he could unveil a chief executive as early as this month, but yesterday he said that he wanted to wait and appoint a leader to develop the business after the cost-cutting.

“There's a job to be done restructuring the company,” Mr Hands said. “Then we need a visionary chief executive to take the company forward. That is a different task.”

Business Big Shot: Mike Clasper

EMI job cuts: employees react

Mr Hands conceded that he had been searching for a chief executive and indicated that he had been looking for people with a “consumer focus and digital background” and with “a sense of commitment to and belief in the creative process”.

Mr Hands was speaking publicly for the first time about plans to revive the British company behind the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Robbie Williams and Coldplay. He confirmed that EMI would make between 1,500 and 2,000 staff redundant at an estimated cost of £40million. The move is intended to save at least £200 million a year, or as much as £100,000 per employee. EMI has about 6,000 staff - 2,000 more than the similarly sized Warner Music.

Concerns about the level of redundancies and last week's departure of Tony Wadsworth, the veteran EMI UK chief, led Williams's manager to say that the performer was refusing to record a new album amid accusations that Mr Hands did not understand the music business.

Mr Hands said yesterday that “we don't have an issue with Robbie Williams. What has happened is that his manager has made a number of statements, but Robbie has not.

“Robbie has spent a large number of years working full-time and he wants to take 2008 quietly. We do not have a need to push Robbie Williams into making an album.” Tim Clark, Williams's manager, declined to comment.

Threats from other artists were also dismissed. The Verve, who it had been suggested were unhappy, are understood to have signed a new contract with EMI towards the end of last year, although Mr Hands suffered a setback when he failed to persuade Radiohead to sign a new deal after a row about money.

Terra Firma has sent in about 50 people to work for EMI to rationalise the company, which is losing market share in an industry that is itself in decline as CD sales plummet and digital downloads fail to make up the shortfall. However, Terra Firma's plan to deal with the changing environment was light on detail and consisted primarily of an emphasis on stripping out staff from its roster of labels. The labels will lose their traditional responsibility for sales and marketing, leaving them to concentrate on finding and managing artists. Mr Hands said that only one in twenty employees at a typical label directly handled the company's acts. Terra Firma will introduce a “music services” division run by Mike Clasper.

Robbie: "Rudebox" recycled

(Wednesday January 16, 2008 06:20 PM)

A million unsold copies of Robbie Williams' "Rudebox" solo album are to be destroyed and used to pave roads in China, according to reports.

Guy Hands, embattled owner of EMI Records, revealed news of the unusual initiative, which follows the critically panned release.

Apparently more than a million copies of the album were made but not sold and will now be sent abroad, crushed and reused.

"Roughly 85 per cent of what EMI does get to release never makes a profit, in part because of the cash spent signing bands and partly due to ill-made bets on the number of CDs the market requires for particular acts", Hands explained.

The recycled copies of "Rudebox", which was released in October 2006, are ultimately to be used on the road surface and street lighting.

Kate Nash: not a fan of Robbie

16/01/2008

Kate Nash has warned fans to be wary of things they read on the internet, in particular anything that suggests that she wants to cover Robbie Williams songs.

The chart-topping Harrow singer, who recently said she feels sorry for Amy Winehouse, told Spinner magazine that she wouldn't dream of lending her dulcet tones to a Robbie number because his music is the antithesis of what she does.

"There is a lie on Wikipedia that I used to cover Robbie Williams, which is so not true," said Kate, who has previously covered Beyonce and Cold War Kids live.

"I'd never do that. Ever. Badly manufactured pop  is why I wouldn't want to cover Robbie Williams's songs.

"In my eyes it's just a totally different world from what I know. I'm just not really interested in it."

Watch Kate Nash tell us a lovely story about a hippo.

(PS- Who is Kate Nash? Never heard of her. )

Do not be tooooooooooo' mean now.... :P

Bless, another spoilt little brat who thinks it's cool to **** off massive artists in order to gain attention. By the time she grows up, actually has some repect, oh and actually lears how to sing properly (all she does is speak), and lears how to write a song that does'nt sound exactly the same to the one released before it, she will have been long dopped by her record label. She is truly laughable in all ways imaginable to think she is in any position to call Robbie 'manifactured pop' She is doing nothing but showing herself up to be a clueless delusional little child. I guess though she needs the press, since her last two singles have flopped. Give it a year and all she will be remembered for is a one hit wonder.

As for the Rudebox china story. The Guardian article states 85% of cd's EMI release make no profit, yet Rudebox gets singled out? What a joke, but so typical of the scumbags that are the British media. Never does it give and confirmatin about this in the article, and it is being reported on the news that Rudebox only sold 500K. How fukking annoying. It sold 500K in the Uk only. Does the other four bloody million not count FFS. God I am sick of this Rob bashing.

Robbie Williams' unsold CDs shipped to China

17/01/2008

He's been snubbed by The Brits, he's struggling to shed his Christmas pounds and now faded former pop star Robbie Williams is letting people walk all over him...

Unsold copies of Robbie's dreadful Rudebox album are being shipped to China - to be used for resurfacing roads.

Industry insiders revealed yesterday that more than a million Rudebox CDs will be crushed and then used in street lighting and road projects.

That will be the first time Robbie's name has been up in bright lights for quite some time.

Blobby Williams, 33, released Rudebox, his 10th solo album, in 2006. But the 17-track CD sold just 500,000 copies in the UK, a massive disappointment following the two million sales of his previous album Escapology.

A source said: "EMI often ships out unwanted CDs to China so they can be recycled.

"It's the ultimate kick in the teeth for him. He loved this album, but going by all the unsold CDs he was obviously the only one.

"Now there's no better use for them than to be crushed up and trampled on."

Since last year Robbie, who admitted piling on the pounds eating mince pies over Christmas, has well and truly slipped out of the limelight.

He was in the running for two Brit awards - Best British Album for Rudebox and Best British Male Solo Artist - but failed to make the shortlist in either category.

And now, to top things off, it seems that his record label agrees with the public's view of Rudebox.

Emi is launching the recycling scheme in a bid to cut costs after losing £263million in 2007.

The firm already plans to axe 2,000 jobs to save an annual £200m after last year's takeover by private equity group Terra Firma.

Meanwhile, EMI's new boss Guy Hands yesterday denied that the Angels singer is on strike in protest over the job losses.

It had been claimed the ex-Take That star, who has an £80m deal with Britain's most famous record label, was withholding his new album.

But Mr Hands said: "Robbie is still working in the studio, but he's working at a slower pace, which is appropriate to producing the best music he can, and that's something we at EMI support him in."

Take as long as you like, Rob. Something in time for the next Millennium will be soon enough for us...
