Interesting to see how well Westlife are doing with their new single - which is very catchy. No reason why TT couldn’t do similar

How many sales do we have now for Odyssey?
  • 2 weeks later...

Cry yesterday was certified Silver for sales/streams totaling 200,000 copies despite peaking outside the top 20!

It means their most recent minimum certified single release is from 2016 which isn't too long ago.

Giants could possibly go Silver in time, having peaked higher than Cry. However, Cry had 8 weeks and Giants 3 weeks in UK top 100.

Going to be a bit of a slog to get to platinum I feel

With it still in the chart Odyssey should get to platinum in the coming months.

That said, it is 2 million lower in sales than The Ultimate Collection.

Such a difference in terms of sales. I wonder what the UC chart run and sales were like

Ultimate Collection had a very lengthy chart run.

I believe it had almost 200 weeks on the chart.

Some great news on the certifications front!

Cry has gone Silver

These Days has gone Platinum

Completely agree! I wonder how many platinums they now have...

Pleased to see Cry going silver, particularly so considering its charting.

I am astonished Cry is platinum.

I really did not see that happening.

Cry is now on bigger sales than some of their huge hits and classic hits.

The power of streaming but in large i don't think it reflects a big hit in the same way sales do and this is a solid example.

Cry has gone Silver few weeks back and late last year These Days went Platinum.

Cry was defiantly kept in the setlist for years after release keeping it's exposure up. This is what they would need to do to defy chart positions and sales/streams that come from obvious exposure relating to chart positions.

These are the singles yet to reach Silver (minimum certification) for Take That now: Possibles and unlikely in my opinion.

Possible

Do What U Like (possible due to infamy and continued referencing - even if for comedy purpose)

It Only Takes a Minute (likely through trickle sales and rare plays still - all top 10 singles should have met this minimum criteria)

Up All Night (possible though it's hype has worn off a little these days)

Said It All (as above and all their top 10's should really go at least Silver)

Hold Up a Light (hard to judge this one in terms of continued sales/streams as no chart success like two above - would need to go outside just fanbase)

Love Love (has the chart position but not so much exposure these days)

Giants (Still gets some exposure as backing music on tv but would need a push)

Nirvana, you’re the best! Thanks so much for this and makes for fascinating reading! It’s great to see singles and albums in the 10s era being certified!

Rule the world was used on the finale of dancing with the stars here in Ireland its number 32 on iTunes now.Hopefully it gets some streams too.
How are the sales for RTW in Ireland I wonder?
  • 5 weeks later...

Hold up a Light has been re-released with a primary school today.

It’s #22 in the iTunes chart currently! Would be nice if it raised the profile of the song among no TT listeners
