Posted January 4, 200817 yr There is a new blog on the official (shocking I know :o  ), and in it Robbie sets the record straight about the seemingly endless rumours recently of a new album and tour this year. He says there will be no new album till next year, and no tour anytime soon. He does however go onto say "But there will be some kind of something this year. I might just put the B-sides to the next album out first. Online". :w00t: :yahoo:  So it looks as though he is taking another year off. I can't say I am too suprised as I was half expecting this, and although I am dissapointed we won't have a new album this year, I am glad that he is taking a long time to make the next album. The longer he takes, the better it will be, and the bigger the anticipation will be. People will have really missed him by 2009, not just fans. It is about time he is doing what the majority of major international acts do. Take 3+ years off after an album/tour. We as fans are far too spoilt really, very few artists if any, have given anywhere near as much as Rob has to his fans in the past 11 years. Ten album released, one each year, thirty singles, loads of DVD's books, and constant touring. He has probebly done more in the past decade than most acts do in 30 years, so this break he has taken and will continue to take is a good thing imo, especially as we wil be getting B-sides etc in between ^_^
January 4, 200817 yr That all sounds pretty much fine to me. I can wait a year for his album, just to be good. About b-sides, good idea, anything is good while it's not another Swing.
January 4, 200817 yr A new blog????? :drama: He must have realised my Inner Scrotum subscription renewal is due. <_< I will peruse it later. After my dinner. -_-
January 4, 200817 yr Author A new blog????? :drama: He must have realised my Inner Scrotum subscription renewal is due. <_< Well no, because he is basically saying not much will be happening this year, especially performing, so he's probebly put loads of people off re-subscribing. I doubt he cares too much though
January 4, 200817 yr Will be fantastic to hear the unreleased material....look forward to it very much! Edited January 4, 200817 yr by LizzieSarah
January 4, 200817 yr I will wait for him to come back. I am a bit saddened that we have rather a longer wait for either the album or an appearance, but gosh it will be like a drink in the desert when he does. As long as he is well and happy that is what matters and he sounded both to me. :cheer:
January 4, 200817 yr He says- 'There might not be a proper album out this year'. Is the door still open then? And what does he mean by a 'proper' album? Could we still get a Swing album? Or a B-Sides album? Or an 'improper' album (ooh matron :kink: ).
January 4, 200817 yr ooo. Well that Spanish Report was a load of $h!t then. :( Believe nothing Young Josh
January 4, 200817 yr Believe nothing Young Josh  Well it was sent out by EMI  ..... :( that explains it then.
January 4, 200817 yr Exactly. Do you think Robbie would tell EMI when he's likely to put an album out? As if... (Unless there's a Swing album still waiting in the wings for an autumn release :( )
January 4, 200817 yr I did not think that he would release a new original studio album right now when his contract is gonna run out with EMI...the ' swing' or whatever album yes but not an original...why would he want EMI to benefit from all hard work that he has to put in to writing songs....let them have the covers

I've thought much the same for some time. If (when) Robbie leaves EMI I'm guessing there's a fair chance he'll set up his own record label. And releasing an original album at that point in time seems to make the most sense.

Jupiter...I guess he is hardly going to give them the parting gift of an original album....if it was me I certainly would not...I guess that is really why he is in no hurry with the release while he decides what to do......in the meantime he can use his website to download tracks that are never going to make it on to an album anyway & keep the fans happy....I can never see EMI getting their grubby little hands on it .....afterall they did little or no promo for Rudebox....Robbie has been there & done that..... -_-
January 5, 200817 yr Loved the blog. He's his honest, funny, charming self  I've missed his writing, he's so good at it I wish he'd do it more often. Can't say I'm surprised that there won't be an album out this year. Despite the rumours flying around I never really thought there would be one so I'm not disappinted. And no touring, well I never thought we'd see him tour anytime in the near future anyways. As he says the last one nearly killed him, he certainly doesn't have to do it for the money anymore, his health and well being is far more important. I'm very excited that we may be getting some Bsides. We've wanted him to do an album of Bsides, so maybe he's listening I don't care how he releases it, online or album, atleast we know we will be getting something and he does like to surprise us so who knows what he comes up with B) There's no rush for a new album. He's not been away for long anyways. 2 years off in between albums is very normal. Actually rather rare with huge artists like Rob, as they usually take much longer than that. I'd rather he take his time and really love what he's done then release something half arsed and that is not his way so when we do get album, stand back, we'll be in for a treat The most important thing is that he is well, happy and enjoying life and his time off. He deserves it !!!!

Like in 'who knows' or "I can change me mind about it"? Jups, lets say we're all clueless, nothink is changed is there? :D  Edited January 5, 200817 yr by ZiggyStarDust
