10. Whitney Houston - One Moment In Time

Actually it was:

BJ:

1st Pet Shop Boys - Heart

2nd Pet Shop Boys - Left To My Own Devices

3rd INXS - Never Tear Us Apart

4th Timelords (aka KLF) - Doctorin' The Tardis

4th Kylie Minogue - I Should Be So Lucky

6th Morrissey - Suedehead

7th Inner City - Good Life

7th Terence Trent D'arby - Sign Your Name

9th Taylor Dayne - Tell It To My Heart

10th Prince - Alphabet Street

10th INXS - Need You Tonight

UKMix:

1st Guns 'N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

2nd Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror

3rd Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal

4th Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

5th Enya - Orinoco Flow

6th INXS - Never Tear Us Apart

6th Def Leppard - Love Bites

8th Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel

9th Guns 'N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle

10th Whitney Houston - One Moment In Time

Funnily enough (in this instance) I prefer the UKMix Top10 as I only dislike Whitney Houston's Olympic song; whilst the BJ Top 10 contains awful singles by Kylie & Taylor Dayne and I was never fussed over the Inner City track. Mind you 1988 was a rubbish year for music whichever way you want to look at it.

1st Whitney Houston - Where Do Broken Hearts Go

2nd Cliff Richard - Mistletoe and Wine

3rd Kylie Minogue - Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi

4th Gloria Estefan - 1-2-3

5th Tiffany - Could've Been

I think those top 10s are proof enough that we should all avoid UKMix like the plague  .... from that top 10 it seems to be like a gathering of old 80s big hair American rockers to me. Not nice. :P

But at least we know who's voting for (thankfully) forgotten embarrassments like Def Leppard, Scorpions and Dio.....

Def Leppard - they are v comic - let's get rocked - always p*** funny as its so cheesy

but i dont think the joint def lep / whitesnake tour will be calling at the comedy store do you

tho in some instances (like balls of fury below and other 80s refing recent comedy films like hot rod) because its american cant work out if things like def lep and john farnam were being used ironicly for comedy value or being used because the creatives behind them like really really love this stuff (watch old american pre-nirvana teen flick and it seems to be the alternative music of choice) weird??

1. Tiffany - Could've Been

2. Expose - Seasons Change

3. France Gall - Ella elle l'a

4. Samantha Fox - Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)

5. Rick Astley - Together Forever

I'm with russ, stadium rock should well and truly stay padlocked in the 1980s (and long live house music!!!). 1988 was a great year actually!

Top 5 nominations:

01 Inner City - Big Fun

02 Raze - Break 4 Love

03 Coldcut + Yazz - Doctorin The House

04 Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday

05 George Michael - Father Figure

well at least there is a handy definition for Coldplay and Snow Patrol to get them away from indie and alternative music cultures
