But, this year, now Capital Radio, are producing it in-house, it can improve. Lucio, tells us that this year, the full top 40, will be played every week. He will also run down the top 10 albums, at 6pm, then the top 10 official singles, will be played non-stop without ads, or hardly any chat. There will be a couple of pre-release songs played, each week, mingled with the chart. Does anyone remember NATASHA ENGLAND? In 1982, she had a top ten hit, with a re-make of IKO IKO (which, was also covered by the BELLE STARS, at the same time). This month, NATASHA, has re-recorded 9 different mixes of this, and hopes to take it back up the charts. Why has she re-recorded it, you may ask? Well, up to this point, it was the only top ten, hit of the 80s, unavailable digitally. That has now been rectified, and included with the Budapest mix, and the other 7 mixes, is the original mix, from the summer of 1982. Originally, meant to be released in Feb 1982, it was kept back for June 82. Will the 2008 mixes sell? Time will tell! Edited January 6, 200817 yr by trevs
January 7, 200817 yr Have to say I liked the changes on the new look show yesterday! Didn't realise that they were going to play the full Top 40 EVERY week- perhaps as Radio 1 tend to follow what Hit40 does - competitions, 2 presenters etc; they might want to consider doing this and goingback to the days of counting down the Top 10 albums. Ironically in recent times Hit40UK has ditched the 2 presenter format and competitions too...
January 7, 200817 yr So is Hit40Uk the British equivilant of the Billboard Hot 100 in America, or are they both different  This chart and the official one don't look that much different either
January 7, 200817 yr Author So is Hit40Uk the British equivilant of the Billboard Hot 100 in America, or are they both different  This chart and the official one don't look that much different either  I suppose it could be described as almost equivalent, but the top 10, on Hit40uk, will always be the same as the Official chart, because airplay is only counted in the 40 - 11 segment, of the chart, it is basically 50/50 on sales/airplay in that sector. No pre-released track, can be featured if it is not on any independant radio stations playlist. Unfortunately, it is just the story of Independant radio`s airplay...the number 11, is usually the most played track on Independant radio, that week. On the whole, the MRIB charts (when used, on air) were much better. With only a 5% of airplay added. Hit40uk, is compiled by music control/Milward Brown (OCC).

Ah ok thanks :D About You Now is never off the radio
January 8, 200817 yr You tend to find singles sticking around between 11 and 15 for months on end if they're getting airplay. And also records which are not radio friendly but sell well enough in their first week can go straight into the Top 10 and vanish completely the next week.
