January 12, 200817 yr Kylie's sold alot more singles than albums int he UK, and globally though hasn't she? That is pretty rare for a big artist.
January 12, 200817 yr How? Look at the second week drops of so many of her Parlophone singles! On A Night Like This: 2-11-18-25-40 Please Stay: 10-18-19-25-39 Love At First Sight: 2-8-11-21-33-40 Come Into My World: 8-22-35-40 Chocolate: 6-18-27-33-40 Giving You Up: 6-16-25-35-40 Nearly half of her singles from the last 7 years dropped 6 places or more during their 2nd week of release! It's only ever the first 2 singles from her albums which do really well, whereas the albums have all achieved platinum or multi-platinum status! I don't think you could say that these days she's more of a singles artist than an albums, at all. And her album chart runs except for UK are just as bad. I agree her albums sell with in the fiirs 1-2 weks but then start to have sharp drops
January 13, 200817 yr Robbie has gone on strike from his record label, I believe. And I think Kylie should leave her current record label, I mean she fought for No More Rain to be on the album, which clearly should be a single. Leave, plz.
January 13, 200817 yr Kylie may leave EMI Digital Spy 13/01/01 Kylie Minogue has become the latest pop star rumoured to be in dispute with record company EMI. The singer has been disappointed with the performance of her comeback album X, which has so far shifted 315,000 copies. It is expected to narrowly avoid dropping from the Top 40 today. Sources have claimed that Kylie blames EMI, which owns her label Parlophone, for sales failing to match her expectations. "It has not been the massive comeback Kylie has hoped for and the blame has to fall at someone's door," an insider told the Daily Star Sunday. "It is hoped that the flagging sales will pick up with the release of her second single, 'Wow', but if not it could be curtains for her relationship with EMI." A spokesman for Parlophone records said: "This is not something I want to comment on at this stage." Robbie Williams has gone on strike against EMI, while Coldplay are also said to be considering their future with the label.
January 13, 200817 yr I don't know why she would be disappointed by those sales, 315,000 after the first single is phenomenal. It's about to eclipse the last album's total sales.
January 13, 200817 yr i doubt that is true, X is doing very well, sales of over 300,000 and 1 single released are great, if this was the case she would have been very disappointed with body language
January 13, 200817 yr 400k for body langauge is good but thats its total sales for 3 years, X has sold over 315,000 in 2 months so i cant see why kylie would be disappointed
January 13, 200817 yr I think Light Years is around 300k, Fever 1.5 million? And if we're backdating, Impossible Princess 60k. :P
January 13, 200817 yr i wasnt sure about light years but i think i remember reading it went platinum so 300,000 is probably correct, i know fever was huge and sold almost 1 and half million
January 13, 200817 yr So X is going to be Parlo 2nd biggest album with Kylie in the UK. I dont get the whole "its flopping" in the UK at all then.
January 13, 200817 yr exactly i dont think the story is true at all, ultimate kylie has sold around a million so maybe they are comparing it to that, but there is no way i can see kylie being disappointed, X has the potentail to sell over 500,000 in total in the uk well passing body language and light years
January 13, 200817 yr To be honest, although 315k off one-and-a-bit singles IS *great*, it's not going to get anywhere the million many fans predicted for Kylie's huge, much-talked of comeback. It's not bad AT ALL, but it's just not what some people expected. Blame 2 Hearts.
January 13, 200817 yr there is a long way to go with the album yet 2 and half singles :P and a tour all which will help sales
January 13, 200817 yr Im sorry but anyone who expected it to sell over 1 million in the UK is pretty delusional. She rarely gets UK sales like that. Did people really think that becuase she had cancer, that she would sell records. I always said that 2x platinum would be what I expected and I still do.
