January 12, 200817 yr Yes, it will! Im not saying it won't. It just won't break their record and will appear in the book with a star next to it, that's all :P Isn't top 10 hit indicated by a bullet point? :).
January 12, 200817 yr Yes, it will! Im not saying it won't. It just won't break their record and will appear in the book with a star next to it, that's all :P So what if it does happen to climb and goes top 10, maybe even number 1. I bet GA fans will then all of a sudden wanna claim it part of their top 10 run then lol
January 12, 200817 yr So what if it does happen to climb and goes top 10, maybe even number 1. I bet GA fans will then all of a sudden wanna claim it part of their top 10 run then lol Erm, it cant. St. Trinians was taken off iTunes. Still, it would'nt and could'nt count as an official single no matter the position it got to in the charts.
January 12, 200817 yr oh i know, what just having a laugh. Id be the same if it was kylie. Wouldnt want to claim it as her song if it was in the charts low on downloads, but then if it got top 10 then I would want too lol
January 12, 200817 yr Wouldnt want to claim it as her song if it was in the charts low on downloads, but then if it got top 10 then I would want too lol Thats where you and i differ though. Because no matter how high the single got, i'd never refer to it as a proper release so it would never become their 18th top 10.
January 12, 200817 yr So you don't believe a download-only release is a single then? Of course i do. But 'Theme to St. Trinians' isnt a download only release, its a track taken from a soundtrack thats been downloaded by people because of a video being released to channels as a form of promo for the film.
January 12, 200817 yr So what if it does happen to climb and goes top 10, maybe even number 1. I bet GA fans will then all of a sudden wanna claim it part of their top 10 run then lol Some people would, I wouldn't at all :P because it's still not their single  just their vocals on it ;)
January 12, 200817 yr So you don't believe a download-only release is a single then? it isn't a release, it's people downloading it from the OST, like millions of other songs out there right now. And I also, would not count it in their top 10 run even if it made it to #1 because it is not a single release.
January 12, 200817 yr Erm "Theme to St.Trinans" DOES have a video...I keep seeing it on The Box
January 12, 200817 yr Erm "Theme to St.Trinans" DOES have a video...I keep seeing it on The Box  Yes, but it's just their cameo from the film :P they didn't film an actual video like when they did Jump for Love Actually ;)
January 12, 200817 yr Yes, but it's just their cameo from the film :P they didn't film an actual video like when they did Jump for Love Actually ;) I know....but to say the song had no promotion / the song has no video is false. I suppose it's down to everyone's own interpretation of what defines a single. A digital EP, a video on TV, a physical CD. With the growth of things online and the shrinking of the physical market the parameters of what makes singles is changing. You could argue that if a song is available to buy with a video on TV then surely that is enough to make it a single?

Yeah, it does have a video :P but it's not official, it is just the cameo appearance from the film. I do think it's a single, but the St. Trinian's theme :P not a GA single. If they had fimled a proper video and gave the single a proper release- (physical), then I would count it as an official GA single ;) Edited January 12, 200817 yr by Johnny

Why does a song have to be released physically now to be a single? They sell 5% of what downloads sell. It's a bit of an archaic approach to the modern music climate no?

But it didn't have a proper download release, it was only released on i tunes and then taken off a few days later ;) would hardly call it a proper release :P
January 12, 200817 yr But it didn't have a proper download release, it was only released on i tunes and then taken off a few days later ;) would hardly call it a proper release :P but wasnt it in the charts for the last two weeks. so must have been on i-tunes longer than few days
January 12, 200817 yr but wasnt it in the charts for the last two weeks. so must have been on i-tunes longer than few days I meant to write weeks :P anyways :drama: I personally don't count it, some people do. Either way, we're not gonna find out for 2 years in the Guinness world records  so not even any point in everyone discussing it
January 12, 200817 yr But it didn't have a proper download release, it was only released on i tunes and then taken off a few days later ;) would hardly call it a proper release :P What's 'proper'? It was released to downloads that's a release. And as for limited release, look at Katie Melua/Eva Cassidy. That was out for a few weeks and then got deleted, was that not a single then? I think if the chart position was different people would be handling this entirely different....
January 12, 200817 yr it doesn't even have a proper digital release though ;) and if I put together a video of Leona clips, add one of the album tracks to it, somehow got it commissioned on the music channels, would that count, I think not. Yes you could but it would never make it to TV because you don't hold the copyright... GA's label/the film people sent the video out to sell the song/movile. It was downloaded by x number of people and it made the chart. How isn't that a single?
