Some more information about TMB:

• This week marks 78 cumulative weeks for Mariah at the #1 spot on the Hot 100. She is only 2 weeks behind Elvis Presley who holds the all-time record!

• As a songwriter, Mariah breaks the tie with Barry Gibb and takes the 3rd place for songwriters with most #1 hits. Only Paul McCartney with 32 and John Lennon with 26 have more.

• With 286,000 downloads, "Touch My Body" breaks the record for the first-week sales of a digital single! Not only is it Mariah's best single-week digital tally, it also breaks Mariah's previous first-week sales of a single ("Heartbreaker" debuted in 1999 with 271,000 copies sold.)

• "Touch My Body" debuted on the Hot 100 in the Billboard Issue of March 1, 2008. This is its 7th week on the Hot 100 chart and here is the chart run for the song so far: 57-34-24-16-14-15-01

• "Touch My Body" was first premiered on American radio on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. In about 6 hours, the song was played approximately 500 times in different radio stations across the US. It also had the biggest first week airplay since Mariah's "I'll Be There" in 1992. The song quickly exploded in all four major radio formats (Top 40 Mainstream, Rhythmic/Crossover, Urban, Adult R&B) and after only five weeks, it entered the top 10 in each format and reached #4 on the Hot 100 Airplay.

• The fun music video, directed by Brett Ratner, premiered on BET/MTV/VH1 on February 27 and quickly became the most viewed video on YouTube, Yahoo and AOL Music as well as the highest ranked video on the TRL and 106 & Park countdowns.

Wow. :o

I thought she had already broken Elvis' record though? But hey, she'll beat it either way if she already hasn't. Plus the song has really grown on me lately.

I thought she had already broken Elvis' record though?

Different record. That was for the number of #1s, not the number of weeks at #1

Still at #7 in the midweeks, 400 copies behind Leona and about 1.5k behind Duffy... come on take Leona at least! :arrr: Still she has a canny lead over Madonna so it looks like we're safe at #7. Saying that Madonna's video is premiered tomorrow which will increase her downloads, so who knows? Top10 for definite anyway.
Get in! Great result! Should stick around for at least one more week inside the Top 10, too. ^_^
#6 is a triumph. I didn't think it would go top ten for a while. Then the midweek #9 did not exactly destroy this fear. But - ah - #6 is not a scrape but instead a glorious thrusting into the top ten.

Edited by Tim

excellent result :cheer: she did really well to nab #6 in the end, the TV promo boosted her very nicely

4 Sam Sparro 21,979

5 Duffy 21,241

6 Mariah Carey 21,179

:o With a bit of luck this could've entered at #4!

Ouch. :o

For those interested the track only sold about 600 copies less than ILT did in it's first week to debut at #4...

Up to #5 in the UK midweeks which I totally wasn't expecting. :o I was anticipating quite a large drop to be honest, but this is cool. ^_^ I don't think it'll manage to stay at #5, I think it'll drop to #7, still it's another week in the Top10! :D
good to see a climb, she put in the crucial tv promo work, its radio airplay is climbing too, holding steady on itunes. it should hold tight in the top10

Yay! Perhaps physical sales increased.

And Touch My Body gets a second week at #1 on the Hot 100! Digital sales for the week are:

(1) 4 CAREY*MARIAH TOUCH MY BODY 168154 -41% (285544) Total: 454619

So almost Gold in just two weeks! It'll fall off next week because downloads of Spirit will probably help Leona back to #1, but then the week after E=MC2 is out so it could top the chart again. :D Yay!

Hurrah #1 again! :D

I'm surprised Madonna hasn't had a huge increase because of her video premiering...

Touch My Body is still officially #1 on the Hot100! :D

Also staying at #1 this week means that Mariah holds the record for most weeks at #1 (along with Elvis) as both hold 79 weeks at #1. Well done Mariah! :w00t:
