January 30, 200817 yr If it was physicals alone it would effectively kill off the music market. No one makes money out of physicals anymore.
January 30, 200817 yr I wouldn't say I hated downloads, but they are nothing like going to HMV to buy a physical copy that you can hold in your hand :D
January 30, 200817 yr I don't mind downloads. I think in a lot of countries CDs are way too expensive. In Hungary I can buy DVDs for half of a price of an audio CD. So I buy rather a good movie.
January 30, 200817 yr I prefer downloads personally, they're just much easier/quicker. Downloads are also good for getting hold of random songs you hear on TV and stuff ^_^
January 30, 200817 yr The one thing that dismays me about them is they propel 'hype' that extra mile further, the 'sheep' attitude of the music buying public is worse than ever and there's not as much diversity anymore. But like someone rightfully pointed out, physical sales these days are almost obsolete so we need them to keep the industry afloat.
January 30, 200817 yr Maybe physicals are obselete because of downloads? ^_^ I *heart* physicals! Not so fussed on singles, but I can't stand downloading an album, I like holding it!!
January 31, 200817 yr for random tracks you wouldn't want to fork over a few pounds/dollars for, then downloads are perfect. for artists you really like, physicals aren't impossible to get, so that's not an issue really (yet). albums i would never legally download. if i'm going to pay (which i almost always do!) i'd rather just add on a few dollars to it to get the physical product, if that - i can usually find used music pretty easily in the US.
January 31, 200817 yr If it was physicals alone it would effectively kill off the music market. No one makes money out of physicals anymore. But that's *because* of downloads - if they weren't an option then the CD singles market wouldn't have collapsed.
January 31, 200817 yr Downloads > CDs imo. Love them. Prefer it illegally, though. Still, I love being able to just download one track of my choosing. Get over it people. Downloads will take over a few years from now, most likely.
January 31, 200817 yr If it was physicals alone it would effectively kill off the music market. No one makes money out of physicals anymore. Thats only beacause there is downloads!!!!!!!!!! if they didn't exist th physical market would still be strong!
January 31, 200817 yr Downloads have been good for the charts making them interesting again after 11 years of boring charts from mid-95 to 2006
January 31, 200817 yr Thats only beacause there is downloads!!!!!!!!!! if they didn't exist th physical market would still be strong! If there will be no internet, there will be no downloads of course the physical market would still be strong and there would be no forums to discuss these issues. There are no ifs in the life it's stupid to think about such things. BTW I don't get this hatred against downloads. You download the songs you want, burn it on a CD and you have a physical copy of it :D
January 31, 200817 yr But that's *because* of downloads - if they weren't an option then the CD singles market wouldn't have collapsed. I don't agree i have not bought a physical single in years [ apart from when my fave artist as a new release :D ] i only started buying singles again when i could download them so cheaply i would never have bothered otherwise.
January 31, 200817 yr Downloads have been good for the charts making them interesting again after 11 years of boring charts from mid-95 to 2006I agree. Though I still prefer the physical product, I find downloads so anonymous and they reduce music to a souless file.
January 31, 200817 yr Downloads are very convenient, and although I prefer the physical product (there's no match for a CD of an album rather than 90 MB taken up on your computer to show for an album), downloads are far cheaper, far more convenient (no faffing about in the singles section looking for your song - it's all there on Limewire/iTunes), and for me 7"s are just relegated to room decoration for me nowadays, so physicals won't ever truly die I won't think as there will always be a vinyl market ^_^
