From the BBC news

Two releases by rock group Oasis have been voted the best British albums ever recorded in a poll of 11,000 people.

Their 1994 album Definitely Maybe came top, while their 1995 follow-up (What's the Story) Morning Glory was second in the vote for Q magazine and HMV.

Radiohead's OK Computer finished third, followed by Revolver by The Beatles and the Stone Roses' self-titled debut.

Under the Iron Sea by Keane, released in 2006, was eighth, the only CD from the past decade to make the top 10.

The full list of 50 British albums included five by The Beatles.

As well as Revolver, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was at six, while Abbey Road, The White Album and Rubber Soul made positions 12, 19 and 21 respectively.

Oasis had a further two in the top 50 - Don't Believe the Truth at 14 and Be Here Now at 22 - taking their total to four.

Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Muse and Coldplay each had three entries in the chart.

There only female artist in the list was Amy Winehouse, whose Back To Black album made number 35.

Q's editor, Paul Rees, said Oasis had polled three times more votes than any other act on his publication's list, making them "undoubtedly the nation's most-loved band".

What do you think of the list?? Do you agree with it or not? Do you think any album is missing.

Can't believe Oasis came number 1 and 2!! :w00t: I can't believe Keane's 2nd album was higher than hopes and fears.

I cant believe that "London Calling" is no.7. =(

Love the fact that Coldplay's albums are on the list, cant agree with everything, but...

I do think that someone is missing (and by the someone i think SP)

I prefer (What's The Story) Morning Glory? but still lots of great albums on the list :D

Are you suprised Robbie Williams didn't make the list??? I don't really like him myself but wasn't "I've been expecting you" his best seller.
Yeah it was a bit strange, but then again those types of things dont bother me

Not suprsed at all. Nearly every album is rock/indie, and it's Q Magazine so the chances of Robbie being on it were always highly unlikely. Although, I recall 'IBEY being on a Channel 4 list a few years back.

Not suprised Oasis are 1 and 2, as they are always extremly high on these Q lists. They are both two of my all time fave albums, so I am pleased, although BHN (although highly underrated) does not deserve to be top 50, never mind top 25 in a million years

Shocking to see Amy Winehouse there though. :o

Amy's album has been a big seller all over the world. I'm probably the only one who doesn't own it. But I reckon it's all this publicity she gets that helps sell.

Goes to show Oasis are standing the test of time.... they are now becoming the stone and beatles of our time...

Topping polls like these ok it was Q but it was also conducted by HMV too and people dont just go in there for indie music do they.

And 11,000 voters is a good sample ratio.
